@Petebloodyonion
I would say, we shouldn't look at Microsoft themselves, they have a ton of revenue streams - Windows sales, hardware sales, Office sales, Azure, government contracts, certification programs, etc. We need to look at Xbox - hardware sales are in decline (Xbox 360 > Xbox One > Xbox Series S + X combined). GamePass subscribers aren't growing enough and, according to the Microsoft docs, are at plateau. Games sales are abysmal (both physical and digital, than...
@phoenixwing
But the person is doing a bad job and the company (including customers) are suffering because of that, how can you not blame him? The reason for high paying is the decisions you make and the responsibility you take for your actions steering the company in the right direction (if company is doing bad, it's your fault; if company is doing good, it's because of your decisions).
It reminds me of that South Park Bill Owens parody ("Follow that ...
@Petebloodyonion
I would say the word is «Mismanagement» and «Greed» (don't confuse greed and capitalism though). Top management is making terrible decisions that cost the company more money and earning less than expected. Sony's live service plans comes to mind; Epic, for some reason, bought Bandcamp and sold to Songtradr (owner of 7digital and other music stores), SuperAwesome they only bought to own Kids Web Services (and they kept them); Embracer bit o...
You know what's the worst part (aside from this abomination existing and how they massacred my boy Rocksteady)? I can't even kill this cosplayer. Instead of Brainiac and the Justice League, i would've gladly killed him.
- Hey, listen, I sold two skins last night. How's that?
- Oh, yeah? All right, Holmes. Who'd you sell 'em to?
- Me.
- Oh, man, shit. Man, we're gonna starve to death, man.
- No, not with me, man. I'm a good customer.
Weird list of restrictions, especially:
> Some may have a limited availability period
> Some exclusive to region and/or platform
And Asmongold? Eww. At least, i can throw him off the cliff, i guess. Tired of seeing his face all over youtube recommendations with his "reactions".
@Dazelya
Many games doesn't come out every year, yet have a ton of content, rich storyline, alternative costumes/weapons/skins without need to pay - Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring and many, many more (fighting games aren't special here). And they too get support for years to come. Fighting games are greedy, they want to monetize it to hell and back, so top management get huge bonuses. Microtransactions doesn't help anyone and doesn't improve the game for players, only for...
> we want to encourage exploration, and this is quite the opposite of what you get when you allow too much freedom in this regard.
Sounds illogical - we want to encourage exploration, that's why we're punishing you for doing wrong by setting you back. How about adding a separate resource, like setting up a camp to save? Or some sort of resurrection stone? I mean, at least something for extra safety.
If my exploration sets me back by a lot (i remember pla...
@solideagle
I completely agree with you. At first it was like «Hey, so cool, i've never played this game and it's getting a remake, means it'll be much better!» but now it's «Come on, i was just playing that, it still looks and plays just fine». I want to play new games, try new experiences, hear new stories from new characters. It's like gaming companies have hired George Lucas as a consultant or something.

@Christopher
While i agree overall with your point about cherrypicking (play poorly, if that was actually the case), i think that comparing melee system was useful, because:
1. It shows how undercooked the melee system feels/looks (starting from 2:50, the player tried to start a combo and instead, it was just a mess, hits not registering, enemies flying all over the place - those 2 attacks at 3:10 should've been a hit);
2. Highlights the worse looking animations...
Yeah, they should be renamed to Embarrassment Group at this point. Bought every studio they could lay their hands on just to fire people from them, close them or cancel their games.
What a shame.
It was a good game... What a rotten way to die.
I wish there was something more I could say.
@0hMyGandhi
Oh yeah, love Riddick games, that feels me with confidence that they can pull it off, thanks!
@spicelicka
I guess you're right, i think i'm just tired from all the PR speak, trying to oversell you something. I think if he would've said that it's because they're good at first person games - as you said - i would have no issues with his statement. I mean, New Order, Old Blood and New Colossus were all good (didn't like Youngblood though).
@spicelicka
Director provided a reason and everyone can challenge it or critique it, as long as you explain why you think it's wrong. That doesn't mean anyone have to change anything, by the way.
He could've stopped at "First-person gameplay is part of MachineGames’ DNA" and would've been fine, no reason to challenge that statement. Saying it's unique was a lie and unnecessary, in my opinion. And i think i've explained why i think ...
Haven't seen real gameplay yet, so have nothing about first-person yet. But reasoning is beyond dumb.
«making it a unique experience that you cannot find anywhere else» - Cyberpunk 2077, BioShock, Far Cry, Dishonored, Wolfenstein and many other first person action-adventure games all say group hello. So that doesn't look unique already.
Oh, and just because you think it's «unique» doesn't mean it's a good fit. Havin...
There was an interesting expose by iXBT games, they have interviews with actual developers, not management, about the whole situation at Fntastic (not an ad, you can search it on YouTube, it's in russian language, but they have english subtitles).
What was basically happening, Gotovtsev brothers (the heads of the studio) were hiring junior devs from small towns, making the devs work for 12-18 hours a day with 1 free day sometimes, no vacations, paying minimum wage, no s...
Every time i see a new gameplay trailer, i'm trying to be optimistic, because it's Rocksteady, they surely can make a good game. And each time it looks so disappointing, no improvements... Like in this video, side missions look so uninspiring, almost MMO-style - collect and drop resources/civilians, defend a point (terminal, plant, you name it), capture a point - feels so basic and lazy, like they took them straight out of every live service game around. I'm sure there are other, ...
@Zeref
PC, Xbox and mobile were getting all the games either way. So they're indifferent, not happy, don't overexaggerate.
@RaidenBlack
IMO, what @-Foxtrot means, one years doesn't mean much. It's a start, yes, but they need more, much more.
Look at your own example, No Mans Sky - they didn't just release one patch and everyone started praising them, no. They've been doing this consistently. If Microsoft will start releasing good games consistently, that'll be great, no ifs and/or buts! But hyping them up in advance (no worthy releases yet is what i mean) - dunno, i...
