I just want to make something clear here; there won't be a performance increase in games. For two reasons; first, that would make Kinect completely useless, secondly, It's not how the hardware functions.

Yathzee shows that he's the writer of the two alright.

@doolin_dalton

Sony never shifted course from gaming. Even though you can call the pricing of the PS3 consumer unfriendly, it doesn't mean they inherently were trying to shift from a gaming centric focus. They haven't because the Playstation branch have always been run by people who actually look at games as something more than a way to make money. Phil Spencer might be the only one in the whole Xbox division which also does this, Don Mattrick certainly didn't. ...

@4Sh0w

It's not about morals. It's about doing an educated purchase judging by historical information available to you as a consumer.

Microsoft and Sony both is in this to earn money of course. It's how you approach this that differentiate the two companies. Sony strongly believed that it could earn more money by pleasing the consumer, MS thought they could strong arm them into something that fundamentally was set up to earn the company maximum am...

This is a drastic change, sales must have been abysmal. Whether this will change the course substantially or not is left to be seen, but the PS4 still gives you a better gaming console for your money.

Funny though seeing how they said "the kinect is integral to the system". I guess not ;P

Why wouldn't the most powerful of the two run a game better? It will always be the case. There are no grey zone anymore..

And even that market is in decline since smartphones entered the stage. This is stupid really.

It doesn't make you right just because you spout subjective arguments.

If you don't think double the amount of pixels displayed is anything you're sadly uninformed. You have to imagine a roof, a roof where assets vs performance meet, all hardware will hit this. Problem with your flawed way of looking at it is that you ignore the fact that Xbox One have ALREADY hit their roof where they have to do sacrifices. This means that the gap visually will be more striking i...

And how the hell do you "patch" hardware.. eSRAM is a bottle neck, developers would've been happier without it.

It's probably too good to be true but to answer your question.. Never..

It should die, no other game series have damaged its genre as much as COD has. It practically destroyed a whole generation of FPS innovation. I hope it dies.

Xbox target audience doesn't play JRPGs.

That's not at all how it works, it depends on pixel size. Pretty much any console could run a game in 1080p 60fps, assets quality would suffer however depending on the hardware. Mario got a very unique artstyle which doesn't demand very advanced textures or models though, which works just great for that kind of game

Pretty sure it will still be marketed as an Xbox game, no way MS giving away that cash cow. PS4 being definitive version will be the case of every single game released this generation, that's just physics.

Calling the game "amazing looking" is having a laugh really though, the engine will be the same. And gamers are getting tired of it, I think the FPS market is very fatigued right now, especially concerning twich shooters. Hopefully we'll see something new ...

They wouldn't upclock the CPU on a released product, there's no way to guarantee reliability.

What a lot of nonsense.

And bubble to Candy Mafia, very well said. Xbox Owners should stop looking for magic and be happy with what they got.

What do you mean "Have no facts" I just told you the facts, if you don't believe me there's lots of information on the internet on how x86, transistors in general, CPUs, GPUs and memory functions. It doesn't mean it's not existing just because you choose to close your eyes for this information. If you do look up the information It would behove you to do so outside of the console space where so much marketing and dishonesty exists. Read about general x86 PC architectu...

It's ignorance. Im sorry but there are no room for interpretation when it comes to hardware like this, the silicon can only function a certain way, it's not a question of opinion. It's why your argument falls flat. Factually this is the state of things. And calling the difference diminishing is just false. When the PS4 renders twice as many pixels with better performance than the Xbox One there's a huge difference, it's bigger than it have been since NES and Genesis.

Are you even listening to us? There's no secret in how a x86 system works, we can calculate and understand performance completely. It's what's so great about the two new consoles. They use an architecture people have been familiar with since the mid 80s. But that's not even the point in this discussion, its understanding how memory works, and you don't need to be a genius to understand that a wider pipe is moving more water than one with a funnel on it.
