If you spend $3 a day on a starbucks (or similar) coffee that's over $1095 a year.
That's a PS4, an Xbox One and a good chunk of cash leftover for games or accessories.
If you spend $20 a week on top of that on fast food ... well there's $1000 for a gaming PC.
Of course then you'll have nothing to drink and eat while you're gaming ... lol
For a 10 year old game WoW's subscriber base is still very impressive whether it's 6.5 million or 10 million (depending on expansion cycles.
WoW brings in 1 billion in revenue annually and holds 36% market share.
The next on the list is Lineage 1 which brings in $250 million with 9% market share.
WoW is fine. It's not going anywhere.
I can't blame Blizzard for not wanting to reinvent the MMO. They saw what happened with SWTOR, Elder Scrolls Online and other "WoW killers"
They still have a strong WoW subscription base and it's still a solid game. It will probably be 8-10 million subscribers again when WoD releases.
Hearthstone is a huge hit. 20 million players
Diablo 3 and Starcraft are doing well.
I am already sick of hearing about Destiny
10 years of this?
No thanks
Microsoft is probably thinking about an exit strategy more than winning a war.
The devices, consoles, tablets, phones and other consumer / entertainment divisions of Microsoft are not going to help drive growth for them and have, in fact, lost billions of unrecoverable dollars thus far.
When Bethesda releases Fallout 4 or Elder Scrolls 6
This is what the Xbox 4 and PS5 will be capable of in 10 years
Yeah the PS4's 50% more powerful is 100% shady math
Xbox One was never mean't as a games console.
The design and strategy around the Xbox One is to own the living room and become a media-hub from which users consume all forms of media content be it music, movies, TV, games, social media etc ...
The Xbox One is part of the Microsoft entertainment ecosystem just like the iPhone or the iPad is part of Apple's ecosystem.
I would like to see a keyboard with built in trackpad so I can use the web browser and do other things more easily.
Yawn
The Xbox One and PS4 are, at best, marginally faster than a mid-range PC.
You're not breaking any new ground with your little list of games there running at 30FPS so relax.
I haven't seen any major differences between Xbox One and PS4 graphics. Ryse looks great and so does Killzone Shadow Fall.
Both games suck. It's about gameplay - not graphics.
Back to Minecraft
As far as I can tell all the "new types of games" that have come out over the last 5 or so years like Minecraft, League of Legends, DayZ, The Walking Dead, Angry Birds have not been a result of more powerful gaming hardware.
In fact I can't think of a time when more powerful hardware meant new types of games.
Given the hysterical tantrums console gamers have been throwing lately over sub-par Xbox One and PS4 game frame-rates and resolutions I think the writing is on the wall.
I don't think people will necessarily ditch their consoles but they will definitely be itching for more power that only PC's can provide.
In a few years the percentage of people who have an Xbox One or PS4 AND a gaming PC will be quite high.
I still don't see any smoking gun here that states the PS4 is much more powerful than the One.
I see a lot of indications that with better development tools and more time and experience with the various platforms visuals will improve.
I would like to see more anti-aliasing and aniso filtering on these consoles instead of the constant talk of frame rates and resolution.
Creating a smooth image with no jaggies is far more important to me th...
The PS4 and Xbox One don't have fast enough CPU's to push games at 1080p 60FPS with full antia-aliasing / anisotropic filtering / occlusion / DoF / motion blur etc ...
1.6 GHZ clockspeeds aren't fast enough. I don't care if there's 8 cores or 16 cores. Raw clocks-peeds almost always win.
Most mid-high ranged gaming PC's have at least 3.4 GHZ CPU's in them as well as very fast SSD disks and very fast GPU's which is why PC gamin...
Was it running on a PC or an Xbox One though?
We've seen this before.
I don't trust ANYTHING they show at these shows
Sorry but that's kind of ridiculous
If these systems are actually 8 or 10 times more powerful than the 360 and PS3 then they should have enough raw horsepower to easily hit 1080p 60FPS with full anti aliasing and aniso filtering.
It's time to stop throwing these terms around like "8 and 10 times more powerful" and see things more clearly.
Something doesn't quite add up here.
We're being told that these consoles are 10 times more powerful and yet the Xbox One can't even hit 1080p on a lot of games and the PS4 is still running at 30 FPS on a lot of games.
Sorry folks but the math is shady.
And yet ....
