Is it me or is Bethesda just releasing Skyrim again ...

Sooo .... we're gonna do this now huh?

I wish they would just give us the ability to tweak the graphics how we want them. I'd rather run higher than 30 FPS with some lower graphics settings.

Interesting that they don't mention CPU speeds. I wonder if we're still going to be in the sub 2GHZ zone

Meanwhile ... 50 million people are playing Minecraft with graphics from 1997 ...

Sony is probably looking at all of the fools buying a new iPhone every 3 years for $500 and saying

"I want me some of that"

Because men in suits sit in conference rooms with their company finance controllers and determine the best way to maximize profits so that their wives can buy new BMW's and their kids can go to private schools.

Want to change the system?

Stop consuming all of this garbage and find a used book store.

A used copy of War and Peace is $10 and will last you all winter.

Games aren't $60 anymore people.

They start out at $60 for the base and then typically have $30-$40 worth of expansions.

This isn't new

And this isn't controversial.

The future of games is Destiny

A digital slot machine that is perfectly calibrated for a work / reward feedback loop to keep players playing through multiple expansion packs.

It's basically the popularization of the World Of Warcraft model.

Microsoft needs to get out of the console business

It's not profitable

3407d ago 1 agree1 disagreeView comment

Rare was a "console" game developer in the traditional sense of what consoles USED to be which were platformer style gamers.

The 360 and PS3 era of gaming marginalized platformers and embraced PC style 3d shooters and rpg's

Rare never made the transition.

Witcher 3 bored me to tears for some reason. The game is joyless and stodgy.

Whereas I had a blast playing Fallout 4.

Every game developer eventually wants to remake Skyrim

Console tards have been spoiled by Microsoft and Sony selling their consoles at a loss to keep prices down.

It costs these companies hundreds of millions (sometimes billions) of dollars to develop and market these systems.

If you can't afford it then find a new hobby.

Used books are a few bucks a piece

In a world where a smartphone is $500-$600 the $600 price tag for a specialized VR gadget isn't all that bad.

I'm here to decapitate Supermutants with a sledgehammer.

You want romance? Go watch PBS shows ..

Fallout Alaska would be awesome

Sorry. Number of cores is bullshit.

The CPU speeds in the One and PS4 are miserably slow and 8 of them ain't helping. 16 of them won't either.

The clock speeds are low in the PS4 and One to keep them cool.

They're basically gaming laptop designs

Games will run faster on four 3.4 GHZ CPU's than eight 1.7 GHZ CPUs

Raw horsepower matters.

Raw horsepower is how you get 1080p @ 60 FPS

CPU's in any old PC run at a minimum speed of 3.4 GHZ.

The consoles run at 1.6 / 1.7 ghz.

Clock speeds of GPU's are only 800 GHZ in the consoles.

My shitty Radeon HD 6870 runs at like 900 GHZ. It's like an $80 card now.

Clock speeds are very important for pushing resolutions and frame rates.

Raw clock speed matter. A Lot.

Witcher 3 was boring as hell to me while Fallout 4 is a blast to explore.

I also prefer the simplified perk system in Fallout 4. It's way more pick-up-and-play than Witcher 3's confounding menu/inventory/crafting system.
