If it doesn't matter if they're black, why is everyone white? It's a fair question.
If we're looking at black heroes, we've got... a (usually only one) character in every serious-toned MP game set in the modern day; Alyx Vance is debatable, since she's an NPC; Sten is also debatable, since he's not Human; Barrett and Kiros are the only FF characters I can think of off-hand, but I'll admit I only know so much...
I mean, if I wer...
I think you forgot to play FF6. Or FF3 on the SNES in the US.
That's kinda the criticism. If you want something markedly different from CoD/Halo (Resistance is Cod 5 with aliens and I won't hear otherwise; MAG is CoD with lots of people) or 3rd-person-CoD (the most recent SOCOM), you have to look at Arma for simulationistic realism, or Quake Live for a strong professional presence and a different take on fast-paced arena gameplay, or TF2 for team-based action (don't tell me 'TF2 is on consoles,' because TF2 from five years ago is on ...
Note: Pachter isn't a console guy who knows zero about PC gaming. He's a moron who knows zero about gaming of any kind.
Yes because of course they wouldn't deny everything if talks were not in final stages or if they were planning on a surprise announcement. This means nothing, just like the Steam list probably means nothing.
That's only partly true; I have played quite a few mobile games I considered as deep as, say, full handheld games. Zenonia 5 is one I'd actually call a bigger game than many dedicated PSP games I have played. (Also, Janryumon is as strong as Tenhou.net for playing japanese Mahjong, with the advantage of being portable)
However, you are essentially right that a lot of games don't have any depth to speak of. I'm looking at you when I say that, Rovio.
Where do I sign?
You're right. Answer is easy. But headline is misleading as usual (thanks N4G!); real question the article is addressing is "Why do people get so butthurt in reviews of games they already have played?"
We've all seen that guy who went saw a negative review of Call of Duty and flew off the handle "FUCK YOU I PLAYED THIS IS WAS THE BEST GAME THE NARRATIVE IS TOTALLY COMPLETE AND FULFILLING DICK CHEESE REVIEWER!"
That's a fairer q...
You don't know cool either, brah. 'Cool' is a subjective term at best. If we were to look at common traits of modern "cool," though, you would find that rebellious teenaged antiheroes who spend most of their time raging and less of their time cracking jokes are pretty much cool.
If we're not allowing each person to choose what cool is for themselves, then I'm sorry to say that your idea of cool? Not that cool. Neither is mine, of course. Cool is ...
You guys all know that the reason they don't support Windows XP is probably because they're not going to bother coding DX9 support, right? PC gamers have been sitting around bitching that devs never take them seriously, never use the tools at their disposal, and then when they move on to a technology that's not a decade old, you're up in arms?
John Romero helped make Wolf3D, Doom, and Doom 2. I'd credit most of the success to John Carmack, but you can't say he never made a good game.
But you're forgetting that the Bavarian Illuminati were concerned about the preservation of knowledge, and the organization died out hundreds of years ago. In fact, the later secret societies of the 19th century (Freemasons, Rosy Cross, Golden Dawn, etc) were largely an attempt to recreate the Illuminati. Well, that an an attempt by Aleister Crowley, once he got his hands on them, to get laid and have orgies.
As someone who was fairly involved in the "conspiracy nutjob" community for a while through a few friends, I can honestly say that most conspiracy theorist types think Alex Jones is a joke and a wacko whose only "redeeming" feature, if it can be called that, was his ability to get on television.
The game is more strategy-oriented than the 2nd, IMO. It's fun, but the graphics are dated, the voice acting leaves something to be desired, and so on. The story is nice, the action is pretty entertaining, but a lot of the interesting subtleties are not explained particularly well--unlike so many games, it actually makes it MORE fun to play the game if you've read the book.
Often--I'm looking at you, Metro 2033--the book ruins the game because it's so much bet...
Blizzard? After Diablo III fiasco[s]?
My favorite part is the amusingly short comment section, who declares that the head of Blizzard is probably some sort of Bond villain, not realizing that in fact it is: Bobby Kotick, since the merger.
But WarZ is embroiled in some serious scandal right now regarding whether or not it's a complete scam, is it not? DayZ seems like the safer bet.
Assuming we're not adding Dead Linger to the list, even though I expect we'll probably be seeing the Beta release, if not the Final release, in 2013.
Doom and Quake were both advertised for their bloodthirstiness. Let's not mention Daikatana (coded on the Quake 1 engine, then ported to Quake 2 because lol John Romero) whose advertising campaign was just as, if not MORE, crass as Bulletstorm's.
Duke Nukem (let's stop beating up DNF. It was what it was: a license grab; Pitchford was pretty direct before and after the release that they wanted the license and put out a game with as few changes to its existing code ...
All games are violent? I'm confused.
What is Fez? What is Thomas was Alone? What version of Minecraft are you playing that it's more violent than Mario Bros or Megaman? FTL? I'd give Cave Story the same Megaman pass. But I'm sorry, these are all pixelly games aren't they. I'd better get some better-looking ones.
What would you call Dear Esther? Any of the LEGO games? Any of the racing games? Is XCom significantly more violent than Xcom...
Quick name ten black video game characters go.
(I'll wait)
Oh, you had to google it? That's ok. I understand.
Now name ten white video game characters.
We've got Mass Effect, done. If you need I can name them for the count, but suffice to say that in a game that is surprisingly cosmopolitan not only by having tons of aliens, but more black people per title than some games have per series, by the end of the 2nd gam...
