The PS4 is simply a "definitive" version. Just rendering at higher res and frame-rate with some minor bells & whistles there.

@nevin: Game production started at 2011 with a team from 20 jumped to 100+. Factor all that in and you may actually tally about the 20 - 30 million range.

1 million at $60.00 alone sustain profit.

And this why games like these go exclusive. Sometimes, it isn't just penetrating a wide market, it's about finding a publisher to invest in your product.

If said product ends up being critically acclaimed, you simply increase the value of the console. In a game industry, securing games is a must and MS dropped the ball on this one because they want to unified aspect of what type of games should enter the system.

@hollabox.

I think you need to watch this:

It may be humorous but it does elaborate the issue on "letterboxing"

@kx11:

What you're arguing isn't visual fidelity, it's image quality and by your argument, any game that can push beyond 1080p/60fps is automatically better than next-gen in visual fidelity. So far, all the best PC graphics have at this moment are refined post-processing effects, resolution and frame-rate.

The Order 1886 has soft-body physics that applies for both characters and environment, that's not something you can just place an extra ...

The letterbox format allows for developers to have a wider screen view to blend interactive cutscenes and gameplay seemingly. They've always attributed to that style intentionally.

By making the game 16:9 1080p, you sacrifice that wideness in favor of an image that fits exactly to the screen.

This means it impacts the way the FOV works or level design since you are now looking at a tighter angle than before.

@kx11:

Listen. This "pc" argument is just a ridiculous notion I'm surprised it's even used.

If you're going to use PC, at least accompany that with a game for reference. Your comment is just a drive-by strawman that only takes into consideration of the "hardware" therefore da-awesomzzz..

Hardware don't produce games, game developers do. So backup the PC argument with some games for comparison if you want...

@KZ619: Both engines utilize their resources differently. Unless the full game of MG: GZ is revealed it would be disingenuous to call Kojima out without observing the final product yet.

Didn't anybody watch The Order 1886 gameplay trailer recently? I'd say it has surpassed the in-game cinematics from TLOU already.

@hades07. You clearly miss the point. The fact that the developers is essentially feeding conjecture while being "supposedly" neutral is concerning to say the least.

The problem is letting them get away with such snarky and degrading remarks. They literally believe that the consumers in general are ignorant they can feed misinformation just to appease to a certain company is disgusting.

If anything, THEY should follow your advice and avoid talk...

Indeed. What's even more insane is that they allow disabling specific aspects of the game to restrict your playthrough is considered the more relative option.

Ridiculous. I've yet to see really good AI since F.E.A.R and the fact that these hacks claim they can excel in that department is laughable to say the least.

Sad to see a talented developer go. However, when you make a linear game like Bioshock: Infinite with 5 years in production, there's no way you can make a ROI. Remember, GTA5 took around the same amount of time to make and clearly the production values were much, much higher.

B:I probably broke even, but that kind of mismanaged development is turning out to be more of liability.

What an incredibly daft question to ask to a developer when it is clearly known that a game like this is not meant to push hardware. It's like they're trying to force some "equal" footing regardless of the game - which means, in essence, the WiiU is just as good as the PS4/X1 because they all run a the same fidelity.

@mushroomwig: It's already a known factor that VGChartz always undertrack Playstation sales. The fact that manages to pull such a number while being "undertracked" determines how successful the console is. So don't confuse celebratory comments as verification for the site. It isn't.

@O_E_W

That depends on your perspective of the game. The game is built around the social experience. Getting all the runes with a co-op partner without as much as a voice-chat is a surreal experience altogether.

Finally achieving the "White Cloak" avatar of your character rewards you as the "Guru", and everyone who you meet up with ends up following you regardless. The legacy from humble newcomer to an enlightened master is so poetic an...

It's an infinite progressive argument. You can even bring a the most powerful PC to 30fps as long as you design the game to it's specs. Remember Crysis back in the day?

@Prodigy_X. The difference between an "indie" game and a AAA game is that one requires a publisher, the other doesn't. GTAV can be considered an "indie" game if R* self-published their title.

@P-M

This game is a cross-gen release. If they can get this running on current gen hardware then there is NO EXCUSE why they couldn't do 1080p/60fps for next-gen.
