Last gen was all about graphics and non-corridor levels yet somehow, somewhere, somewhat, gameplay is almost NEVER the focal part of the gaming discussion. The irony here is enough to uncrash the 80's gaming era.
Let's step back and view the bigger picture here:
No doubt RaD has an impeccable track record - but only because those games were re-iterations of "established" franchises. This means, despite their creative talent, it is only restricted based on the fundamental game design of said franchises. They have no room to deviate away from the mechanics other than introduce contemporary improvements (which I might add was very well done.)
But TO:188...
@JohnJ, Tbone567:
For every year that passes by in development, the higher the budget is incurred per project. Your comments makes absolutely no sense since the majority of Sony's studios are literally spending more money as their development time expands.
Your comment would only apply if they released those games "earlier" since that would mean development is cut short.
I would say that EA spearheading their nonsense through ME3 all the way to the incomplete product of BF4 is a prime example of a company beholden by shareholders - next to King or Zynga.
Ubisoft's main crime here is saturated gameplay across all open-world genres utilizing the same old padded features to exploit time: Climb XX tower and unlock XX Map and activate XX missions, rinse & repeat. As long as they follow this tradition they would never reach GOTY status, al...
Hopefully now the VGChartz apologists would stop using the "it's valid if Sony wins" excuse for this site ever again. I've never seen such HUGE discrepancy between them and NPD numbers. They're desperate, very fucking desperate and this announcement pretty much sealed their fate. Time to ban this filth off the site.
Crytek is an overrated developer. Every single one of their console releases do not perform optimally yet they are still regarded as the "technical" king. I'm sorry, if your game had to run below the "standard" resolution and still perform poorly than most games, you don't get have a pedestal of legitimacy in you. There is a reason why there is hardly any praise for them while the opposite goes to devs like ND or R*.
@mcarsehat: I'm sorry. Your opinion is invalidated the moment Kojima released the comparison videos. Since they're both at their native uncompressed state, I can CLEARLY see the difference between both of them. So don't pretend to create this virtual equivalency to compensate as a bi-partisan gamer.
Use your Sharingan to see through their bullshit.
Unlike DayZ, this game has a huge financial backing. Not to say the rebuilt DayZ product is inferior, but clearly you need funding to have the polish need for games like this. SOE is trying to get to the market as early as possible to steal the thunder from DayZ.
Just another "sales" pitch talk when it all boils down to visual improvements. Improvements no drastically different from the previous gen and they didn't resort to marketing bull like "DX12".
So why is it a big deal now? Because there are sad individuals that need to validate their console to equalize the competition - I get that, but there's a difference between having realistic expectations and blindly idolizing it to be more that it actually ...
@Geobros. What's your point? You're not gonna experience the upcoming games on the tablets.
@NMOR
It has been confirmed that that the paid items are cosmetic. On top of that, you have to go find it which means other players are able to steal what you "paid" for. Not exactly a purchase-friendly approach.
I don't get it. If VGCharz gets PS4 numbers wrong in their HOME territory, what make you think the UK sales are accurate to say the least?
Or it could be just as fair but the learning curve is extremely deep.
The link you sent to was mildly curious as those responding were using a different username. Oh boy did I get a laugh at the end.
I like how the director emphasises this as "next-gen" features but forgets that this is a cross-gen game. What of the PS3/360 versions? Are they getting "next-gen" treatment too?
ND also said their engine was "next-gen" ready. They wouldn't have planned that far ahead if they knew porting a game like this to the next system would cause a lot of issues.
@Sam Fisher? So, what about conviction? That was a game prior to her involvement, did you approve of that design choice?
Nonsense. Every first party studio has always used their in-house engine including the recent Uncharted: GA despite the device having support for the UE3 at that time.
Secondly, it makes no sense since they would be losing money for licence fees. EA and Ubisoft and Konami have completely ditched 3rd party engines for a reason despite having massive support of the UE3 engine in the last generation.
Another example is supermassivegames - an indie compnay tha...
It's pointless to re-review a game like a newly released title since it's exactly the SAME damn game. The only thing I want to know is whether the performance and enhancements were worth the price.
