Thought I'm unfamiliar with the technical aspects in general but it seems to me they wanted a more unified RAM this time around since working on the "cell's" main criticism is that they have to not only deal with the smaller VRAM but independently work out the kinks of the cell architecture itself. However, it seems the latter is no longer the issue which makes your point a lot more sense.
On a side-note I really applaud developers like these that take the...
Thanks for the help.
Looks like it's the Vita's HIGHEST rated game. I've never played the series, looks like I need to get into it. What do you recommend? Go by series or can I start with this?
This may be a stealth approach to dealing with future "pirates". Think about it, buying the vanilla console would have no online features. This will pose a big problem to those who would like to hack into the system especially if they needed to go online just to open up the features.
And for every update Nintendo implements would be a step forward in placing harsher security measures on the system. I forsee the next-gen consoles would do something similar.
Interesting. It's about time the engine is being outsourced for other devs to utilize it.
"This makes it frustrating when you need to get in your bag or do minigames while zombies are coming for you."
Isn't this such the case with Demon's Souls? Looking through the reviews, I can certainly say the game does have the winning formula but is unable to apply it properly on the game. My guess is that it wants to be played like DayZ but ended up being played as a L4D/Borderlands hybrid.
Then bethesda by all accounts, deliberately took a task either:
A) believing they can fulfill the challenge.
B) Scamming PS3 into a quick buck.
Your points all direct to B). It is as you mentioned, they have to "re-code" the entire game environment which would take a year longer. Which then indicates that the PS3 was literally taking assets directly from the 360 (like many other failed multi-plat implementation) that caused this p...
The situation is somewhat familiar when you factor the Gamecube on the PS2 era. Early games didn't exactly "blow" away the PS2 not until the Resident Evil series started to flex it's muscles. 3rd party devs really don't place emphasis on system hardware unless they need to be competitive (see Vita).
By then, I'll give it an extra year before making final reservations.
Oh Warren Spector, how the mighty have fallen. This whole disney thing really isn't exactly exploiting his genius.
"Given the amazing scale and draw distance that the trailer displayed, some people disagreed that this was running on a current generation console i.e the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Some even thought that certain portions of the trailer were pre-rendered and were not in-game footage."
No offence to those "people", but they really must be gaming deficient or the standard "casuals" in order to arrive to that conclusion.
It's also a known fact that the "majority" of these buyers are not up-to-date with latest happenings gaming has to offer. You just offered a self-serving statement which is already so blatantly obvious from the start. Nobody is insinuating the game will LOSE sales, which you are obviously trying to imply.
This is the only game franchise that has defined the meaning "pushing the console to it's ABSOLUTE LIMITS". It not only had a awesome story, great graphics and music excellent atmosphere, UNIQUE INDIVIDUAL NPC'S (no 2 NPC'S are the same), sandbox, fighting system, mini-games, arcade emulated games, training, item interactivity, dynamic weather system, progressive save files (yes, it does this BEFORE MASS EFFECT AND IT ACTUALLY KEEPS YOUR STATS AND ITEMS).
OH WAIT...........
Unfortunately, such preposition doesn't bode well for "closed" consoles. Understand that every re-iteration would have very different sets of graphic cards, new API's and the like. The only way to achieve true BC is to add the original chip that can run the BC games.
Probably why the Wii had the best BC is due to the fact that the hardware is merely an "overclocked" version of the GC. But notice you don't get the BC for that on the Wii-U? ...
If that's the case, then the matter at hand is directed at SONY & Activision for not giving it enough resources to expand the game since it nails down on gameplay already.
OH look, another graphics whore here:
“You also have to balance it with the gameplay"
You see guys, this is the STATE of the gaming industry. The limitations (rolls eyes) MUST be graphics.
ALWAYS.
So fucking stupid, now my hype levels of hitman: absolution just went down the toilet. Had he said, "oh, there are a bazillion gameplay mechanics but the consoles are only able to achieve a handful of them..." the...
Just because a game has online doesn't negate it's perceived value. But if we were to go with your argument, Ragnarok's Oddyssey has a far better value since it DOES have online with a lot more missions and almost near infinite replayability due to online co-op. Then there's Unit 13 as well.
And it's cheaper...
Probably less. Don't forget, MP3 had A LOT OF pre-rendered footage bink video files to mask the loading. Since GTA is known for it's real-time cutscenes which basically removes player input saving memory resources. This is also why FFXIII-2 resorted to such methods instead of the CG that was prevalent in it's predecessor.
A lot of the recent AAA titles as well as the past 2 R* releases on the 360 required multi-disks. Back then, the idea was unthinkable but we're beginning to see how "limited" the disc space is becoming more of an issue ESPECIALLY in non open-world games like Halo and MP3.
Surprisingly, it was FC3 that is delivering what AC3 was supposed to do considering their reception not to mention being their "flagship" this gen. The end really is near on Dec 21, 2012.
