In what bizarro world is this? Thanks Sony for choosing for me and not letting me decide what is of value or not.
How can the same company endorse 4 hour rentals that cost upwards of $4 yet tell me that I don't want this for $5 a month or $30 a year. What a joke.

Does the PS4 need a video service to rent movies? Does it need a music service too? Does Sony need to bother with NHL and MLB video subscription models to see all the games?
It's called offering consumers alternatives and choices. As long as it doesn't impact non-members. Which I think it could in some small fashion such as not offering demos any longer.
I agree. It's easy to focus on the games that didn't deliver but I'd rather pay attention to those that did make it and were great games that otherwise may not have been made without it.

Games on Gold differed in the fact Xbox owners kept those games regardless of continuing the service. I might be mistaken but I think that has changed on the XB1 to be more like PS+.
This is very interesting because now that the XB1 will be offering pre-purchasing like the PS4 does XBox owners will be able to play day one and get a 10% discount for digital purchases. That pays for itself on the monthly option.
Where things get tricky is access to older titles...
What makes sense for Sony is having a walled garden which explains why they positioned the music service first before allowing MP3 playback on the PS4. They want you to BUY content through THEIR devices.
Sony's number one goal is to be profitable. The PS3 bled them money and they are not in a position financially to take those kinds of hits anymore.
So if Electronics buys an indie developer are they still considered indie? I think the big guys have muddled what indie is supposed to be and are now trying to profit by making indie gaming more mainstream.
To me indie is a small team with no publisher. All one has to do is know about the Humble Bundles which was supposed to be deals on lesser known games that you bid on. It was a way to generate huge profits in some cases by selling these games in large bulk. Now we see Sega...

I don't either. Maybe Sony needs more manpower or something. The system shipped with music services so it's not like they never thought of the PS4 as doing more than just games. Playstation systems have evolved into entertainment devices and the PS3 if I remember correctly was the most used console of them all for watching Netflix.
It is possible to have a great game system and also one that does media entertainment well too and it shouldn't take over a year to do...

Why wouldn't they? It would actually be ridiculous for them not to. Not every PS4 owner played the game, some may not even have paid much attention to it before until they got a PS4.

There are 34 bikes on the screen meaning it would be quite hard to achieve 60fps and 1080p on the PS4. Maybe in the future after tweaking the system and getting to know the hardware more they could pull it off. Talking about Uncharted is comparing apples and oranges.
I thought the only thing the pre-order offered was earlier access? Anyways I tried it and it's a fun game but I'm hoping the full release is a little more action oriented.

Here's the issue, many Playstation fans and Xbox fans for whatever stupid (silly, ignorant, you name it) reason don't get along. That's why we get these dumb arguments all the time flooding the forums.
We can enjoy two different musicians on two different recording labels but for some reason that logic doesn't apply to games. We can go and see two different movies from two different studios but that logic doesn't apply if two competing hardware devices are...

The latest video cards for the PC are beasts, the PS4 when you break it down is a bit better than the Xbox One but both are far from being beasts by today's technology.
If Driveclub is a success I doubt they will go back to Motorstorm, instead they will continue with the Driveclub ip.
