From the article,
"This is a weird move, notably because previous Dynasty Warriors games on non-Nintendo console have featured online support."
Do you honestly think if this game was coming to the PS4 and XB1 they would leave out online? Nintendo is the crux behind such prehistoric times.
Ok sure, let's compare each service and what games they will offer.
PS4 games offered on PS+ for August,
Road Not Taken and FEZ
XB1 games offered through EA Access,
Madden NFL 25, FIFA 14, Battlefield 4 and Peggle 2
EA Access does not devalue PS+. Tying online multiplayer behind a paywall through PS+ is what's conflicting. What EA Access is trying to do is offer a subscription model for EA only games. PS+ does not offer access to games 5 days in advance and as far as I know no EA games have ever had a discount day of release through PS+. You need to separate the two. IF all EA games don't interest you then of course the service will never be on interest. However their library simply dwarfs most i...
It's good if you own a XB1. Why is it bad if it's an OPTION?
The system is less than a year old and the author is making it out like they should be offering Ryse or some other big title already.
The 3DS got a major price drop quite early and sales ramped up. The PS3 went through many revisions and quite a few price drops of their own and sold quite well.
The thing is they are not losing €100, they are offering two different models now. A price cut of €50 is always welcomed to the consumer. The Wii U also dropped by $50 in less than a year.
I find it interesting from a consumers point of view how negative you are being about it.
Sony has put online multiplayer behind a paywall which complicates things now. So you essentially have one mandatory service competing with a non-mandatory service that looks to fail unless they correct the pricing model or change to a subscription model. Perhaps a better option is to offer a PS+ platinum service that has everything PS+ does and PSNow for $99. PSNow is also going to be available in other regions in the future.
Most things inflate over time. Didn't games cost around $50 30 years ago? They have only gone up 20% since then. The main issue are the AAA games, they used to be made by few people but now have upwards of 100's and costs are well above the 10's of millions of dollars.
This is why we will see fewer and fewer AAA new ip's. Too much risk at stake and if they are made they are made to be big hits like Destiny. That means the rise in indie games will keep gaining ...
How are they losing €150 if they removed Kinect? They should be charging €50 less than the PS4 because of two things. One is it's being outsold, by quite a lot in certain regions. Two is consumers view it as a weaker system. We all know the specs are weaker but there are things that make it stronger but consumers don't care. They still see the PS4 overall as the better and more powerful console for the same price.
Which means a price cut to €50 below and attaining mor...
Yup, aside from the screen tearing it actually looks pretty darn good.
Actually looks quite impressive and very fast, same as the guy who narrates the video speaking a hundred words a second.
You do realize China is one of the most emerging economies for the middle-class right? That's why coffee and oil prices have gone up, they want to enjoy what we enjoy. Driving cars and drinking Starbucks. India is another.
No kidding. I guess the popularity of the PS4 is why.
How much do the service providers charge to put the games on the store? Apple charges 30% and I think Steam does too. So there is cost associated even going digital that's because they spent millions building the infrastructure to provide the stores and the services that come with it.
The pricing would be good if we were talking about new games. They aren't, therefore they should be offered in a bundle like Netflix.
These are NOT new games, therefore the pricing model is still not very good for the 7 day and 30 day offerings. That is why the only saving grace for this service is to either offer NEW games or to offer a subscription model for about $15 a month or $100 a year which gives you FULL access.
Publishers will continue to take advantage of console gamers compared to the PC. That's because royalties and other issues get in the way which console gamers are used to paying a premi...
Netflix has the content to make the value much better but Neflix falls short in having new content which is where the 5 days early access on EA games differs. PS Now is also being compared to Netflix because it will offer older catalog titles but they price it based on each title. That's why it falls short until Sony offers a bundled model like Netflix.
EA Access also offers 10% discounts on digital content, Netflix doesn't do this.
It's not backwards, it's forward thinking. What's backwards is having online multiplayer behind a paywall. That's why you and many are having issues with this. This is how Sony managed to convince gamers they are offering a great service, by compiling those free games on top of it. I have been a PS+ member since it has started and I payed for it because of the services it offered, not that it gave me access to online gaming. Microsoft is now going in the direction Sony did but...
@cgoodno,
Obviously these games are just the beginning and of course they may not be for everyone. Peggle 2 is neither COD/BF style or a sports games, that's all I was referring to. In fact their portfolio is actually quite diverse, it's just that they are most famous for their sports games and shooting games. I imagine the games being offered will be cycled quite rapidly and $5 is quite low to try them for a month.
@Godmars290,
Which...
I believe the system allows up to 16TB of external hard drive space which is quite amazing.
