Devs are loyal to money, that's all it really boils down to and Sony were the ones who approached Bungie/Activision just like how Microsoft approached Activision to get timed exclusive content for Call Of Duty.

What Bungie should be saying is they have an exclusive deal with Sony, be honest and upfront. Then all this PR crap about treating fans equally wouldn't sound so bad.

Sales determine that, not fanboys. Sony needs to come forth and mention how well they are selling, until then we have no idea who really likes them or not.

"Only haters tend to be pessimistic about it."

Oh, so IGN are now haters are they? Sure thing.

Mind listing all those AAA western games that came out in 2014 and are coming this year?

You mean like Dtiveclub? It's interesting they are making such a big deal about this game yet seem to want to push graphics instead on a racer that would probably benefit even more by going to 60 fps.

You're right, this isn't about 1st impressions. All this article is about is analyzing the teaser trailer. We have yet to see actual gameplay.

1. Because many of these systems don't provide backwards compatibility. This is one way to double dip the consumer.

2. There are many great games from the past that lots of gamers missed out on because they didn't want to purchase the hardware to play it on.

3. Consumers are willing to pay for better versions of their media if possible. We do with music, with home video, so why not games?

4. An updated or remastered version can bring...

I don't think it will work on consoles. The community just isn't the same as it is on the PC. Consoles are also a walled garden and gamers expect things to run smoothly from the start.

"If people have such a huge problem with GS then just shop elsewhere or buy digitally."

Did you read the article? It's bad enough publishers are placing a wedge between gamers by offering exclusive content based on the hardware but now GameStop wants to do the same thing. This means being price competitive might not be an easy solution and neither will be convenience for everyone. It also reeks of becoming a monopoly of where to shop.

Most consoles have a shelf life of 5-6 years. Last generation was an anomaly. The first XBox was only out for 4 years and Microsoft managed to do very well with the XBox 360. They dumped it because it was bleeding them money and the PS2 was already dominating the market. They also couldn't get as much game support as Sony at the time.

That's not to suggest coming out with a new Xbox is a good idea in 3 years. Once the system is 5 years old or older it's totally a...

Hironobu Sakaguchi from Mistwalker was very vocal about the PS3 hardware and never made one game for it. You also had games delayed because of the PS3. Many developers struggled on the system and it was more expensive to make games on it. Sony spent a great deal of time with developers in the making of the PS4, they didn't want to make that same mistake.

John Carmack hit the nail on the head early on. He said the PS3 has more headroom and could do more things but it took ...

I think you are confusing making a game easier with making games all easy. Every game has its own set of challenges and by design some will always be harder than others. You can have a side-scroller that is hard because you have to time your jumps but still have an easy mode. That easy mode by attrition could still be quite hard compared to other games. If people struggle with side-scrollers they will struggle. Nothing you can really do except allow double jumps or something of that nature. Y...

You're going to compare a novel to a game? What a strange analogy.

A game can remain intact even if an easy mode is offered because you don't have to choose that option. Your experience would not be diminished if you ignore the easy mode.

There are many ways to have an easy mode without changing the design of the game. An old-school platformer for example could have a hard mode of only 3 lives, normal 5 lives and easy 10 lives. Some games scale base...

How can an easy mode defeat the purpose? It would only defeat the purpose if the game was too easy. Having the option to adjust the difficulty would remedy this. The purpose of games is to be entertaining and if some games become too much of a challenge some don't bother to finish the game. It is very hard to have the perfect balance in all games. It's why many prefer to be able to save when they want. Not everyone has the time to keep playing until they get past certain parts. Of cou...

It keeps outselling because,

1. Up until June it was the cheaper system
2. The hardware is technically superior for the same price now (before June it was $100 cheaper)
3. Sony has always done better than Microsoft globally but the XB1 hasn't been released in as many markets yet.
4. Better vision from the start, Microsoft spent a long time trying to fix the image of the XB1.
5. The PS4 still gets more game content, mainly from having more J...

The first XBOX was released at a bad time but the hardware itself was better than the PS2 and cost the same amount. There were a lot of ideas that came about from that system that became commonplace in the future. Broadband gaming, the controller design, built in hard drive and so on.

The XBox 360 woke up Sony. It was the system third party favored, easy to develop and also brought XBox Live to the forefront. Yes the RRoD will go down in history but they managed to move on fr...

This is where the console wars come into full effect and the losers are really all of them. That's because instead of wanting to enjoy both games they'd rather support one hardware company. That sounds like that company has turned them into slaves by design.

DriveClub looks better, there really is no argument but each game is different in its approach. One is wide open drive anywhere so of course there is going to be some trade-offs that comes with that.

The very reason the PS4 is doing so well is based solely on competition from the past. Sony managed to rebound perfectly from the PS3. They still have work to do when it comes to Vita but on the PS4 they have so far executed very well.
