It's likely but not entirely obvious. The messaging is leaving a lot open to interpretation, and they haven't forked over their crown jewels to PS just yet.
It's POSSIBLE that the upcoming Xbox exclusives do so well they see an uptick in console sales and... change their mind??
Yeah those early Splinter Cell games - how you felt like a total bad ass when you clicked that night vision in place... loved those games
This is the textbook business answer and almost certainly the right one.
I do think Sony will look to woo more PC and portable gamers over after Xbox is gone, because they have to get growth from somewhere and that's all that's left
Didn't watch this one yet. Curious if there were any indications of exclusivity on the games shown today?
It was even free non subscription - Epic
I have it on all platforms and stores lol
I don't know - the Xbox messaging is out, Phil's got his people read in on the Xbox on every screen thing already, etc. Sony's pause isn't enough for Satya and Phil to suddenly change their tune again after just expressing their shift a few months ago. I think they're locked in at this point.
No, PS doesn't use Azure
@jlookin, this article is comparing streaming quality between the services, not about whether you like streaming from a console or not.
PS wiping the floor with Xbox even in the streaming department? I guess Azure wasn't as much of an advantage as some thought...
Supply and demand still applies but international economics do complicate things.
The most these guys walked out of Microsoft with was a severance package. They don't have jobs let alone any of the IPs Microsoft just bought. They're starting a new studio in this climate... They're going to miss those paychecks.
"we’re exploring a possible partnership between our new studio and Microsoft"
They're not employed by MS.
"Independent" as in.... independent
Yeah by laying them off.
Anyone can go indie. Just quit lol.
Their team got heavily impacted by layoffs. This is just another way of saying they no longer work for Microsoft.
These people are not getting paychecks until they find some companies to pay them is my point.
So... a group of people that used to be employed by MS are suddenly no longer employed by MS and working on their own. I'm glad they banded together to try and start something, but how is this not another way of saying the entire team was either laid off or quit? Like.. I'm sure they don't own any IP for Banjo or anything...
Looking at SteamDB and the trend of game releases, it does support that there has been a marked increase in game releases every year.
I feel like maybe the pattern of game consumption has changed too with the increase of social media and connectedness. The network effect on games like Fortnite seems to create a smaller number of winners and so many losers. Don't know, but it's like the "middle class" of games has a harder time surviving when all the kids are playing...
So the entire industry's problem is simply that CEOs are not nice people? And before these layoffs hit they were?
i mean there are certainly pros and cons to affirmative action and arguments against the "woke" movement.
But without data it doesn't seem rational (or compassionate) to blame the game industry's woes on that.
Sifu has been on my list for a while. Looks incredible
Agreed. I think if you look at the number of concurrent players playing the popular games of the time, it's always breaking records, not decreasing. Sure there are ppl that play on their phones, but a crap ton of kids and adults are sitting down at their computers or consoles to play. Are they all playing the same kinds of games i used to play? not really. But that doesn't mean consoles/computers are going away - they're gonna play games.
