PS3 interface was slow and simplistic. Remember the store wasn't integrated and took forever to come up? Remember how crappy the chat functionality was and how it was stuck on some side menu?
The PS5 interface is the fastest and most fully featured interface so far. I miss a few things for sure but the UI is moving forward and getting better and more modern. I'm happy with what they've been doing
And with the better graphical settings and ray tracing
Exactly @eon. So every game that has a performance mode with decreased resolution and graphical features could be improved. Like running the quality mode graphics at performance mode FPS.
So the PS engineers just spent 10s of millions to push out an update that will make our games run pretty much the same?
I have more faith in them than that. They know what is bottlenecking our games better than the wanna be developers at DF.
I surely am. DLSS boosts my fps immensely on my PC with a 7 year old CPU. If PS has created something akin to DLSS you better believe there will be major boosts to our frame rate.
Regarding the staggered release, that's what they did with X1X and I'm not sure it's obvious that worked out in the end. They miss out on a year of potential sales before the next gen kicks off, and they obviously didn't end up dethroning PS4 Pro. Didn't they even end up discontinuing the X1X early in the next gen lifecycle? Kinda a disaster.
"releasing their next gen console in a year or 2 "
Talk about optimism.
And would they sell enough to justify the cost
Highly unlikely
On the one hand I feel like there's been plenty of smaller non-AAA games to play and occupy me as a supplement to my flat screen gaming.
But I agree that Sony has done nothing to elevate this beyond the niche it's in and into the mainstream where it would be economical to create AAA games for it.
Yes, everyone has stopped gaming and taken up pickle ball. That's why the games market is tanking. Now if only EA made a pickle ball game.....
You should try it as they fixed a lot
The fact that it's been a whole 5 months since Sony's last blockbuster exclusive (oh the humanity) doesn't change the fact that we're still playing a lot of games on the console and most of them aren't hitting 60FPS without dropping to a sub 4K resolution and cutting out nice graphical effects.
But we have 4K, and with current gen you can't run most games at 60fps without noticable compromises in image quality/resolution.
All the new Xbox games coming over?
DLSS has been a game changer for Nvidia and 4K. AMD has totally been missing out on that. If this update brings DLSS-like functionality to the PS5 it's kinda a big deal - way bigger than just the tflop add
I mean, I don't speak for what any site is for or not for. I personally don't think your have to be IGN to have an opinion that people can debate. And finally I think social influences on gaming companies is a gaming topic that might be interesting to gamers, since it impacts their games.
But hey, that's just my opinion.
I just think it's easier to ignore crap that you're not interested in instead of trying to make rules about what people can't talk about
So, let's test this theory. If, say a well known CEO of a large gaming company is involved in sexual harassment allegations... Is that gaming news, or should we censor that?
Yeah there's more going on on the interface, for obvious reasons.
Don't know what you mean about seeing games or content you don't own, unless you're looking down in the announcements section or the store. Not like you're getting ads in your face or anything. Start your PS5 and it's still on the game tile you were on when you turned it off.
