7 was a decent game, but it had no real scares in my opinion. Most of it was the Outlast brand of jumpscare, which is only really effective the first time I experienced it. On further playthroughs, it felt like I was just going through the motions. Re2 Remake has a more haunting atmosphere, and while it definitely has scripted moments, it's everything in between that makes your objectives feel more uncomfortable and tense. I don't think the molded were nearly as effective as fear indu...

Exactly. This is different in so many ways, even adding, subtracting and rearranging events. It's practically a new game that follows the outline of RE2.

That's the best I can describe it too. Remake just doesn't quite fit. If if we're the first game in the series, it would almost be a reboot.

While the game looks well detailed, the small, claustrophobic environments probably help optimization. I really wasn't shocked to hear it was only about 25 GB.

4 released when I was about 11 years old, and I never really got over the tension that game gave me. It's still one of my favorite games, I'm 25 now and I still play through it at least once a year.

So many good opening sequences, but one that really stinks with me was Doom (2016). That game really reinvented the series, and pumped some new life into an oversatursated genre. Doom and Titanfall 2 are the only fps campaigns I remember wanting to finish in the last few years.

They didn't understand that after you beat the game, there's a "second run" mode which is kind of like completing a small B Scenario for whichever character you didn't pick. When they first reviewed it they thought that the two separate campaigns were just the same thing with the different characters and slight story changes. Once they figured out how to do the second run mode they amended their score.

I'm almost hoping to see most of the mainline series redone in this sort of grounded, gritty style. Could you imagine RE4 or 5 if they were redone with more maturity and horror? I remember reading articles about how 5 was very early in development and being so excited until they released details about Coop. Chris would be suffering PTSD from his previous adventures, and the heat would make him hallucinate, etc.

I actually enjoyed both of those games. Some of the only real survival horror games to come out this gen, unless you count games like Outlast or Soma, which I don't. Running and hiding from everything isn't survival horror to me.

It's up to them to inlcude what's in it, and up to us to decide whether we want it. That's really our only role as consumers, because if we didn't buy the $400 dollar collector's edition without season passes and a bunch of plastic crap, they wouldn't sell it.

While I personally buy very few collector's editions, people buy them, because they wouldn't keep making them available if they didn't. I almost got the RE 2 collector's edition but what it came with just wasn't worth the $200 TO ME. Now, the U.K. version came with key replicas, THAT I would have bought. It's all up to personal preference. They're not made for everyone to want a copy. They're not called "General Customer Edition".

I would honestly even like to see 4 thru 6 with this more grounded and horror driven approach. It could change the series forever.

I can't believe that they thought forcing people to buy a pass if they want ANY of the DLC was a good idea. Sure, you used to save a few bucks buying a pass as opposed to buying the packs separately, but I can more easily justify 15 dollars every other month than 50 at launch for content that isn't all available yet.

I felt they're taking the best of 3 different generations of Resident Evil games (the atmosphere of 0-CV, the camera angle of 4-Revelations 2, and the grounded feel and tension of 7) and blended them into one game. Even the controls were a good mix of 2nd and 3rd gens. I will say though, I may have to bump up the difficulty if ammo is as plenty in the main game. I killed about 60% of the enemies I came across, didn't touch the shotgun and still had almost 30 pistol bullets left.

The basic narrative and environments from the original, reworked into a modern game with a more grounded approach, Re 4 thru Revelations style camera and the game engine used for Re7. Basically, it takes one of the most popular games of early RE and blends it with the feel of last gen RE and the look of modern RE.

Same with enemies in my opinion, a lot of very similar enemy types. Other than that, it was fantastic

I'm glad we're getting a sequel, the first is one of my favorites this generation.

It's probably the stuff you can get in the deluxe edition, separately. Or even the classic soundtrack. Literally anything that can be purchased from an in game menu can be designated this way

Spiderman came out less than three months ago. What triple A titles has Microsoft brought to the table in the past year? Forza? That's it.

It was ported to GameCube, as was 3. I owned both of them.
