Oh wait, but game dev costs have skyrocketed 400%! SURELY all of that extra money we pay goes directly to the function of the business, the developers, and the artists (operating costs) - those who put their blood and sweat into these game!
Their gross profits are absurd and guess who gets to enjoy those? Definitely NOT the people who worked hard for us.

I agree. All this VR success encourages more R&D and discoveries toward better hardware and software design, which has already been happening across the gaming industry - such as solving or lessening the "motion sickness" problem. The real next generation of consoles (if there is a PS5) will most certainly implement better HMD design support. If Sony can continue to keep the costs low relative to competitors, then I am on board with their future entries.

My opinion as primarily a PC player is that while I agree that Gears was a great time, it just has not been part of my thoughts after finishing it - though perhaps not its focus. I do not think Gears and U4 are in the same genre to compare them, but who cares when everyone is arguing over GOTY right?
Uncharted 4 sat in my head for weeks after finishing it. It is a masterful work of gaming art to me and is my "Game of the Generation", and yes includes "the y...
For those who just assumed, and preordered like they blindly do with other games and other products as usual without trying demos - allowing companies to walk all over them and take their money, RETURN IT. END OF STORY!
Here is the reality of the issue using the SCIENCE that these particular and respectable institutional researchers have applied rather than click bait and emotional internet traffic steering. Yes it even has an "abstract". 3163d ago 2 agree1 disagreeView comment
Keep paying and they keep doing. Not sure why this is hard for gamers to understand. Blind e-addicts drink the "skyrocketing dev costs" PR kool-aid when in reality they have gone up but not at the level EA claims. Now prices soar and then they find themselves wondering what happened to the industry, wandering on the side they once attacked in defense of their favorite brands' unethical price gouging.
While this may be true, many people can fully enjoy this technology now. Also, Sony has set required game development standards for their platform as per Stanford research to help mitigate motion sickness, so the level of motion sickness reports are much less per unit than rival PC HMDs. However, game design can only go so far and it is unfair to slam specific games or a specific VR HMD for this.
Motion sickness is also not exclusive to games but includes all VR hardware....
It was on it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wi...
Such a great game that still holds up very well in 2d. Wasn't going to get it since I played the hell out of the Dreamcast version, but since it was first envisioned to be played in VR and was held back by obvious tech limitations, I'm going to buy this game again to support it (it's fun so why not). Hopefully sales will encourage devs ...
Well, no. 1st world countries are those who allied with the West and does not explicitly mean that 2nd and 3rd world participants are living in poverty - no matter what movies, tv, and the media tell us. 2nd and 3rd world ring countries can include very rich economies and sometimes they like video games. https://en.wikipedia.org/wi...

That's a fallacy. Just because other new ways of playing failed doesn't mean that ALL failed. PS VR is also off to an amazing start for a newly launched system and technology for gaming.
Every new tech, if used creatively and effectively can be industry changing. The 3ds was dying its first year until Mario 3d Land utilized the 3d "gimmick" for GAMEPLAY. Everyone regurgitated each other's opinion that it would fail, that it would never compare to r...
I love this game. Perfect for Halloween time too.
Agreed. In my excitement while loading up my Amazon cart with preorders a few weeks back, I didn't notice the "Chapter 1" bit. I have it here unopened, ready to be returned, but I am waiting to see if people are saying if there's a good amount of story or just good all and worth the $40 or not. So far, the reviews I've seen are not so hot so I might just send it back. We'll see.
Here They Lie, BZ, Rigs, Rush of Blood, and Thumper are my must haves. We can't put any of those down here, especially Rigs and Thumper.
Also, I had forgotten about Playroom VR and that has been a good time too. Short time waster yes, but there is a Mario 64-esque platformer, mini game with one single, long level that was very creative and beautifully designed and I cannot believe Sony didn't try to make it into a full game. Some big, future Rachet and Clank type...
*sigh* Did this writer just wake up or are they trying to start chat drama for clicks? Smells like bait. So what if it is? Sony has been bringing the goods with their products for the people who love them. This observation isn't some deep insight or revelation since the specs have been available for long time. I only care about how Sony is using the tech and handling my exclusives and PSVR (which has been amazing all day today).
If it pulls the quality Sony is know...
Oh man yes. They have put great care in this HMD. I have been playing it ALL day (mostly Rigs and Thumper) and not once have I experienced motion sickness. Rigs is filled to the brim with detail and gameplay depth. And I lost myself completely in Thumper and didn't even notice how time flew by. Haven't gamed like this in YEARS and maybe it's just VR fever, but damn I'm glad to be infected.
After using the calibration tools where you actually have to do ...
Been watching some psvr streams tonight and people are going nuts saying Rigs is psvr's killer app and an absolute must buy if you like deep competitive gameplay. Also streamers are repeating how shocked they are by the quality of the graphics in the HMD so it's both pretty and fun. It is also very cool just to watch people streaming it - which I think was their goal, an esport. Hope it gets the success it deserves. Props to the devs and glad I supported this.

Yeah I was reading that thread because mine wasn't shipping from Amazon like my other hardware preorders. So many people got screwed over by retailers. Many people on that thread are worried about Amazon too. Thankfully mine just shipped earlier this afternoon and it is currently sitting at the UPS facility only about 40 mins from me. Sucks for people that had issues because you spend all this time getting excited and these administrative oversights happen. It's happened to me in...
Looks GREAT to me! And this is on the shitty half res capture.

I am happy all these companies are jumping in. Hopefully they bring the highest quality games/applications they possibly can because VR is going to need all the help it can get after the abysmal Rift/Vive launches and subsequent lack of content months after.
People were excited before those launches, so now anything new coming has even larger hurdles because people just dont believe in it anymore and reject it - especially those who wont take the time to get off their fat ...
Beyond the marketing vomit, we at least know that Sony is FULLY aware that it's about games because he kept repeating the words. If there are no games, then what's the point? Now hopefully they walk the walk and keep on top of their great launch lineup and according to this wiki there are some great games on the way.
I am posting this list for people arguing "there's no games":
The game is going to be popular and therefore going to be an indirect form of worldly and historical education. Movies, TV, and games are unfortunately how most of us Americans are raised and educated about the world and history since we have a reading phobia and believe we are the center of the Universe since we are able to fake the look of wealth.
Hate for other cultures, the lack of the strength in others, and especially our American arrogance are also propagated this w...
