How to Farm Crystallized Charges in Tears of the Kingdom

Zonai Charges and Crystallized Charges in the Mining Cave in Tears of the Kingdom

With the addition of new regions like Sky Islands and the Depths in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll need to find new ways to traverse Hyrule. This involves Link’s newfound abilities as well as Zonai devices like wings and fans. To power them, however, you’re going to need Crystallized Charges and Energy Cell.

From early on, you’ll become familiar with various Constructs found throughout the kingdom. Each is designed to perform a particular task, and those manning the mines will fill you in on Zonai creations. In the Mining Cave on Great Sky Island, one Construct will kindly tell you about a resource called Zonaite, which is needed to create Crystallized Charges.

Luckily, Zonaite is easily found in mines across the kingdom, presenting you with ample opportunities to farm the resource. However, you’ll need to exchange your supply of Zonaite for Crystallized Charges in Tears of the Kingdom. Here’s how it’s done.

How Do You Farm Crystallized Charges in Tears of the Kingdom?

In order to get your hands on Crystallized Charges in Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll need to exchange for them with Zonaite at Zonai Crystal Refinery locations throughout Hyrule. Marked by battery icons on your map, one can be found in the Mining Cave on Great Sky Island while another is located in the Great Abandoned Central Mine in the Depths.

Unfortunately, there’s a limit on how many charges you can buy at once. This effectively prevents you from farming Crystallized Charges in the traditional sense of the word, but you can still stock up on these items if you frequent mines. Just speak to the Forge Constructs in these locations to exchange your Zonaite daily. You can also get Large Crystallized Charges and Large Zonaite to get more energy wells. Huge Crystallized Charge are even better.

How Do You Farm Zonaite in Tears of the Kingdom?

It’s much easier to obtain Zonaite than Crystallized Charges in Tears of the Kingdom. To farm the resource, strike shimmering black rocks in the Mining Cave on Great Sky Island or the Great Abandoned Central Mine in the Depths of Hyrule where you can find Large Zonaite Ore that look like glimmering boulder. You’ll need a weapon with either a metal or stone head to mine Zonaite, so come prepared with an axe or sword. Bring plenty of Brigthbloom Seeds and arrows to light your path.

In the long run, you’ll need a lot of Zonaite to effectively farm Crystallized Charges. For this reason, I recommend mining as much ore deposits as you can and stocking up on larger Crystallized Charges once you’re able. The bigger the charge, the more power it supplies. Not to mention, with enough charges you’ll soon be able to upgrade Link’s battery.

With plenty of Crystallized Charges on hand, you’ll have the ability to power all sorts of Zonai devices to help you traverse the kingdom of Hyrule. Starting early is key, as you’ll need to use Zonai devices to complete various quests throughout your Tears of the Kingdom playthrough. Farming Zonaite is good to power Zonai devices and increase the battery’s capacity.
