After so many controversies since the release, some critiques are directed at the team behind the game. This time, the XDefiant players are expressing their dissatisfaction over the developers’ choice of weapon XP rewarding system. Disgruntled fans shared their concerns.
Fans Insist That Playing The Objectives is Useless
A Redditor, FragileEggo123, declared: “Not rewarding weapon XP for playing objectives not only encourages not playing the objectives but also punishes those who play them when nobody on the other team is”. The OP explained how in a recent match they and two other players missed out on getting any XP. Their little group sat on the capture point, waiting for the other team which turned out wasn’t playing objectives.
The OP said: “So we get punished by playing the objective while everyone else was running around enjoying the game and earning XP for their weapons”. They added: “Rewarding weapon XP for playing the objective seems like a guaranteed way to improve everyone’s general experience playing the game. Players would be all over the objective and no longer incentivized to avoid it”.
Another player, imgayformygf, agreed: “I’ve been talking about this in CoD for ages. Specially B point in domination. Defends should be double weapon XP and getting kills while on B should be at least triple if not more. Getting a kill while pushing the payload is similar. So many ways to improve objective play”.
Other fans called this idea great and genius. MetaOPNunchucks recalled: “I remember them talking about they were gonna do things to incentive playing the objective and was surprised that they did it this way”. Jaynevo agreed: “For real lol, tired of having a higher objective score than my entire team combined… I just started leaving games because I’m tired of wasting my time”.
How Can Developers Improve the XP System?
MurtaghInfin8 shared their stance: “Definitely bugs me how the game is trying to get you to play objectives while rewarding a TDM mentality, and basically results in a meat grinder due to how many players are in a match”. They elaborated, explaining how all five modes feel pretty much the same. This fan said: “They all just boil down to run forward and die. Hotshot feels a bit different, at least”.
One of the players, Pressbtofail, offered an interesting solution. They said: “3,500 XP for 1 level of a weapon is f**king crazy talk. The double XP was perfect. Everything should level your weapon since that’s the only thing to level outside of a useless player level. Double XP shouldn’t be used to make up for a very bad system, they need to make it 2,000 a level and/or make it so everything counts towards a Weapon’s XP; Accolades and all”.
This all comes after the accusations of being a pay-to-win game. Obviously, the non-paying players of XDefiant feel that the developers granting a little weapon XP boost for everyone would be a good thing. The developers haven’t responded yet. Seeing how they previously gave everyone a double XP weekend, we assume that they are aware of the issue. Now, all we can do is hope that the devs will cave and restructure the weapon XP rewarding system.
