Can you attack fellow pirates in Ubisoft’s latest game? Is there PvP in Skull and Bones? Let’s see.

Skull and Bones is a pirate action-adventure game, developed and published by Ubisoft. You take on a role of a fledgling pirate, on your way to infamy. You can explore the ocean, trade and smuggle goods, look for buried treasure, fully customize your ship, and plunder ships and settlements. There are a number of factions that you’ll encounter in Skull and Bones, and they all have their ships and outposts scattered throughout the Indian Ocean. If that is not enough for you, can you attack other players? Is there PvP in Skull and Bones? Read on and find out.

Is There PvP in Skull and Bones?

In a way, there is. What would a pirate game be without some healthy competition between crews? However, full PvP is not a feature in Skull and Bones, and you cannot fire away at other players’ ships as much as you like. Open Beta had full PvP, but it seems that the devs decided it should be an optional contract instead. More specifically, PvP is only available if you take on a Cargo Hunt, Hostile Takeover, or Helm Wager contracts. Ubisoft wants this game to be more of a PvE experience than PvP. Other players are there to team up with, rather than attack. On that note, if you just want to play for the story, or enjoy some sailing, can you turn PvP off?

Skull and Bones – Standard Edition, Xbox Series X
  • Engage in thrilling naval battles and equip a multitude of powerful weapons as you risk it all for the biggest loot.
  • Sail the lawless seas solo, or team up with two friends or other players to partake in shareable contracts and rewards.
  • Face cutthroat pirate hunters, deadly sea monsters, unpredictable weather, dangerous rogue waves, supernatural threats, and more as you explore a vast open world.
  • Craft and sail up to 10 different ships at launch, each with unique perks to match your own personal playstyle.
  • Grow your infamy and unlock resources and opportunities to get riskier contracts and upgrade your equipment.

Can You Disable PvP?

Well, no. If you happen to choose a PvP contract, you cannot disable PvP. Those contracts are purely optional, so you can just choose not to take them. Besides them, other players cannot attack you on the open seas (no griefing or anything), so that is why there is no option to toggle PvP on and off. If you do not want any PvP, then simply do not accept PvP contracts.
