How to Purchase the Buddy Barrier in Pokemon Unite
Just like every other held item in Pokemon Unite, the Buddy Barrier can be purchased from the in-game store (Aeos Emporium) for either 1000 Aeos coins or 625 Aeos tickets. Both of these in-game currencies are viable options.
While Aeos coins can be farmed fairly easily via completing battles or daily/event missions, Aeos tickets are given progressively when the player levels up. That, in addition to the fact that a fewer number of tickers are required as opposed to coins, makes using tickets the recommended option.
When you have either enough coins or tickets, all you have to do is:
- Launch the game and reach the main menu.
- From here, you’ll see a shopping cart icon. Click or tap on it.
- From the three options, you’ll get now, click on Aeos Emporium, and tap ‘enter’.
- Towards the left, you’ll see several different options. Look for ‘held items’ and click or tap on it.
- Scroll down until you find the Buddy Barrier, and when you do, click or tap on it.
- Finally, click on the currency you would like to use to purchase it, then when asked for confirmation select ‘yes’. You will now be able to use the buddy barrier in any match you want. Granted, of course, you have enough held item slots.
What Does the Buddy Barrier Do?
The Buddy Barrier is a defensive item held by your chosen Pokemon. Every time the Pokemon holding this item uses their Unite, or Ultimate move, it triggers the item. The Pokemon and a nearby teammate of that Pokemon both get an HP shield.
If there are multiple teammates nearby, then the one with the lowest health gets this benefit. As for how much shield it gives, it gives a shield worth either 20%, 30%, or 40% of the Pokemon’s max HP depending on the level of the item.
That’s not all, however, as the item also gives a flat rate of increased HP starting from +20 HP, and increasing by 20 points every time the item is leveled up using item enhancers. The max extra HP you can have is a whopping 600.
