How to Evolve Magmar in the Indigo Disk DLC – Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Want to know how to evolve Magmar into Magmortar in the Indigo Disk DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet? We’ve got you covered. Stick around for details about the evolution process and the items you’ll need to finish the job.

Magmar is a strong Fire-type Pokémon that you can now catch and evolve in the Indigo Disk DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. While Magmar first made its debut back in Gen I, the line now begins with Magby, which can also be found roaming throughout the Savanna Biome in the Terarium. However, you’ll need to evolve your Magmar to obtain the final form, Magmortar. That said, this Pokémon can’t be found in the wild, so you’ll need to complete the evolution yourself to add it to your Pokédex — and the process isn’t so straightforward. Here’s how to evolve Magmar in the Indigo Disk DLC.

How to Evolve Magmar into Magmortar in The Indigo Disk DLC

Magmar will only evolve into Magmortar when it’s traded to another player while holding the Magmarizer item. This process hasn’t changed since the final evolution was introduced back in Gen IV, but it remains rather difficult without a trade partner.

To remedy this issue, many players now make use of community trade codes to exchange Pokémon that sport trade evolutions, ensuring that you’ll receive the Pokémon you’re aiming for in return. These codes are easy to find through dedicated Discord servers and other groups.

However, it’s important to note that this can only be done if you have a Nintendo Switch Online Membership. If you’re without a paid subscription to the service, then you’ll need to trade locally with another player.

Where to Get the Magmarizer in The Indigo Disk DLC

Fortunately, the Magmarizer item is much easier to obtain than Magmar’s evolution in the Indigo Disk DLC. This trade evolution item can be purchased from the Blueberry Academy School Store for 250 BP. The price can seem pretty steep if you haven’t been saving up, so I recommend taking on a few BBQs (Blueberry Quests) to earn some points in the event that you’re running short.
