Looking for the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC release date? Stick around for all the details, including official dates and window predictions.

The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet was announced earlier this year during February’s Pokémon Presents showcase. Footage from the two-part DLC was shared at the tail-end of the nearly 30-minute presentation, taking hopeful viewers by surprise. Set to release in two parts entitled The Teal Mask and The Indigo Disk, the expansion for the mainline games offers several new locations as well as a long list of returning monsters and all-new Legendary Pokémon. The DLC received a bit more attention during the Nintendo Direct that aired on June 21, but when can we expect the highly anticipated expansion to arrive?

While it’s been a few months since The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC was first announced, we’ve received few updates on the initial release date window confirmed by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. Here are the release date details we have so far.

When is Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC Coming Out?

Part 1: The Teal Mask is coming to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet on September 13, 2023, as confirmed by publisher Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. While we can expect to see the first half of the expansion soon, Part 2: The Indigo Disk has yet to receive an official launch date. For now, Part 2 maintains its initial release window of winter 2023.

At the time, the release timeline for The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC checks out. Considering the previous two-part expansion for Pokémon Sword and Shield launched four months apart in June and October of 2020, we might see a similar window of time between Part 1 and Part 2 of the DLC for Scarlet and Violet.

Given that The Teal Mask will arrive in September, I would wager that The Indigo Disk might launch in December. This allows for about a three-month window. Of course, this prediction is purely speculative, and The Pokémon Company has explicitly stated that release dates for the DLC are subject to change.

What is Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC About?

In the two-part DLC coming to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you’ll be introduced to two new locations: Kitakami in The Teal Mask and Blueberry Academy in The Indigo Disk. Part 1 will centralize the Festival of Masks and the Pokémon it commemorates, while Part 2 will take us to a new school as an exchange student. Several other areas will be accessible, including the Terarium in The Indigo Disk. This location could be a callback to the Safari Zone of earlier entries or the expansive lab featured in the film, Detective Pikachu. In any case, it seems there will be a twist related to the Terastal phenomenon of Gen 9.

Despite having received news on the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC release date and storyline, some players remain concerned about the launch of Part 2: The Indigo Disk. However, the community shouldn’t sound the alarm just yet.

The upcoming expansion just might deliver even more than we bargained for with the introduction of new Legendary Pokémon and regions. All things considered, Part 1: The Teal Mask is worth it to check out as we await an official launch date for Part 2. Until more is revealed, prepare to start your new journey in Kitakami.
