Can You Play Once Human on a Dedicated Server?

With the release of Once Human, the community is wondering about the possibility of a Dedicated Server in the game. Private servers are nothing new in online gaming, and Starry Studios’ newest survival game might be perfect for them. Does Once Human Have Dedicated Servers?

Currently, No, Once Human does not offer any option for players to play on a Dedicated Server. The game can only be played on the official servers, and with the future addition of seasonal content, this might be the way it stays. This is sad news for all players who like to create a private server to play with their friends exclusively and tailor their gaming experience to their liking. However there was a mention about private servers before Once Human was released, so there might be some hope yet.     

Will Once Human Have Dedicated Servers in the Future? 

Although there is no way to play using a private server yet, this might change in the future. Back in 2023, the head of operations at Starry Studios, Derek Qui mentioned that they were considering supporting private servers, but not before the game launch. This can mean that we will be getting to play Once Human on private PvP or PvE servers. Although without an official confirmation and a concrete date, it’s just a passing comment for now.

Moreover, there has been no confirmation about Dedicated Servers since 2023, and considering that this is a free-to-play game, we might not get private servers after all. Dedicated servers give players options to change rules and tailor their gaming experience to their liking. Which can interfere with the developer’s vision for the game.  

On the other hand, online free-to-play games have to make money somehow, and usually, this is done through in-game purchases. Which can include in-game items, battle passes, and cosmetics, and private servers might interfere with this. Hopefully, we will get Dedicated Server support in the game but do not be disappointed if this does not happen.
