Survival games rely on gathering materials and crafting stuff, and Once Human is no different. Moreover, it is a multiplayer game and each World is filled with other players, doing the same as you: trying to survive. Since the dawn of time, humans have tended to trade their surplus of goods for something else that others may have, and the same goes for Once Humans. In OH, you can even team up with friends, to adventure together and share your spoils. But, Trading between friends and strangers is not as simple as you’d think. So, keep reading to see just how to trade with other players in Once Human.
How to Trade
There are a couple of sneaky ways to trade in Once Human. For now, trading gear is still virtually unavailable (except using a method described below), while trading materials is fine. So, below we will give you three methods that players use to trade between themselves, with both strangers and friends.
Vending Machine
Vending machines are how you can sell your excess items to anyone passing by, both strangers and friends alike. First, you have to research (Memetics > Logistics) and build one. You have to connect it to a generator for it to work. Then, you simply put unwanted items inside, set the Energy Links price you want for them and that’s all. Note that you can only sell items from the Tools, Consumables, Materials, and Special categories.
Trade With Friends
When you are standing next to a friend, simply open up their player menu by pressing Z, and there you will see the option to Trade. Just like for Vending Machines, you can only trade items from the Tools, Consumables, Materials, and Special categories. Drag what items you’d like to give them, press Lock Trade, and when both of you have locked your trades, you press the F button to Confirm Trade, and that’s all there is to it.
Trading Weapons and Armor
For now, there is a weird method that players use to give each other weapons and armor. For example, if you want to give a weapon to someone, follow these steps:
- Transfer all of your items into containers/storage boxes, until the only item left is the weapon you want to give.
- Then, both of you switch to Chaos Mode, by pressing P.
- Then, press Esc and select the red Self-Destruct button, found at the bottom of the screen.
- You will “die”, and now your friend can loot your “corpse” and take your weapon. The item that they will get to loot is chosen randomly among everything that you have on you, that is why we left everything in a container, as explained in the first step.
- Note that items traded this way will be at half Durability, and unable to get repaired.
There is still no word on whether we will get something akin to an “auction house” that many other MMOs have. But, due to regular server wipes, we doubt that an auction house will have much use.
