After a long and tiring week, the players have finally liberated all the designated planets and are waiting for the time to run out on the Major Order. In the meantime, some of the most dedicated players are once again raising an important question. Should they take the matter into their own hands and liberate a planet outside of the MO? According to some devoted Helldivers 2 players the planet in desperate need of liberation is Vandalon IV.
The Strategic Importance of Vandalon IV Liberation
Over the last couple of weeks, this planet has made it into the spotlight. Some clever players started thinking outside of the box during a particularly draining MO. They came up with the conclusion that liberating only one planet, Vandalon IV, would cut off the Supply Lines for the entire Xzar sector that needed to be liberated, thus ensuring an easy victory.
This plan was brewing during the MO, so it didn’t have time to come to fruition before the MO ended. With the start of the next one, a movement was formed to ignore the Terminid MO and instead go and finally liberate Vandalon IV of all the bots. Now, don’t get us wrong, a lot of Helldivers fought valiantly on Vandalon IV, but due to the severity of the MO, they had to rejoin their fellow soldiers and squish some bugs. During that time, Vandalon IV went down from being around 46% liberated to 0%.
Many players wondered how that drastic drop was possible. CmdPetrie said: “There are currently like 500 players per planet in the bot front. The bot front is essentially doing zero progress”. Luke-Likesheet added: “Bug MO and not enough divers, even with the lower regen rate. Happened with Mafark, happened now, and will continue to happen”.
RHINO_Mk_II confirmed: “Multiple bug MOs. When we held 4/5 planets needed with several days to go, we got Joel’d and the bugs attacked where there were no supply lines”. One player, seabard, reminded their community of some cruel truths.
They noted: “Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim darkness of the far future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting Joel”.
Helldivers 2 Players Issue a Call to Action
With some time left before a new MO, the Helldivers 2 community is pushing a liberation effort on Vandalon IV. Goddess_of_Absurdity declared: “The bug front is more than guaranteed and the bot front now calls for your aid in reclaiming Vandalon IV. Just as the Malevelon Creek divers pushed to the very brink, so can we. With a 0.75% decay rate, this is our chance to see if we have the freedom to take planets or if we’re truly under Joel’s Thumb. Dive Today”.
Many players excitedly supported this proclamation. GergChen shared: “I fought so hard on Vandalon. Spilled oil, spilled blood, lost brothers and sisters. Send me back”. AduroT added: “I’ve been doing nothing but Vandalon unless I needed bugs for the Personal Mission, yet sadly watching the liberation meter steadily decline day by day”.
With the timer running out, we’d suggest to the players to coordinate and come up with a plan. In our opinion, Vandalon IV is of great strategic importance, it would be a shame to waste an opportunity to isolate an entire sector. Of course, no one knows what the next Major Order will bring. Maybe Joel will show mercy and include Vandalon IV in it, to allow the players to pursue their dreams uninterrupted. Whatever happens, remember, we’re doing it for the democracy.
