Helldivers 2 is a futuristic co-op shooter, that takes heavy inspiration from works like Starship Troopers. You and a squad of your mates are a part of Helldivers, an elite fighting force, sworn to protect Humanity, Democracy, and Freedom. You do that by fighting against Terminids, a bug-like race sworn to destroy Democracy, and against Automatons, a collective of mindless robots, who hate Freedom more than anything. And to get you into the thick of it, you have a spaceship. Now, as with everything in Helldivers, the ship has to be appropriately named. But, what to do if you make a mistake in naming your ship? How to Change Your Ship Name in Helldivers 2?
Yes, you can. We have the technology. In the case you made a mistake when naming your starship, or got bored of it and want to change it into something better, there is a way. Changing the name is quite easy.
- First, go to the Ship Management terminal, located left of the Armory.
- Select the tab with your ship type (probably “Destroyer”).
- On the right-hand side, you will see the “Change Ship Name” option. Press the button assigned to it (Square for PlayStation, R for keyboard, and X for Xbox Controller).
- Select a new name from the ones provided.
- Select “Apply”
And there you have it, your ship has a glorious and patriotic new name. But, what if the provided options are not to your liking?
Will There Be More Name Options?
For now, the name options we currently have are all there is to it. We expect that more naming options will be added in future updates.
Can I Use a Custom Name?
Sadly no, you cannot type in a name of your own choosing. Tough luck if you have an awesome and democratic name on your mind, but it is a reasonable choice by the devs. This way, every ship name will be appropriate and “lore-friendly” for Helldivers 2.
