The community is finally content, with the recent update and the Warbond being labeled wins. Well, if you thought it couldn’t get much better than this, recent leaks are a wonderful cherry on top. The rumors of a leaked melee weapon were just what the Helldivers 2 community needed to take away any suspicion of the game’s great future.
A New Melee Weapon Might Be Coming to Helldivers 2
One devoted Helldiver and a verified leaker, IronS1ghts, took to Reddit and shared that a bayonet was finally coming to Helldivers 2. This player shared a video showcasing the bayonet’s design and efficiency against bugs and bots.
The description of the video read: “This version of it is from the most recent patch (September 17th Update). This attachment will probably be on the Constitution Rifle. This is likely a placeholder model and will be updated in the future. It has a lunge function that I was not able to use here. For some reason, the damage was fluctuating a lot while I was testing it. Overall it should deal more consistent damage once released”.
At the time of writing this article, there hasn’t been any official confirmation of this melee weapon being added. However, Johan Pilestedt, the CCO, teased the community by leaving a comment on one of the posts about the bayonet on X. He jokingly stated: “Let me tell you about [REDACTED]“.
Players Are Already Imagining Builds With the Leaked Weapon
As you may have expected, the Helldivers 2 players loved the idea of this leaked melee weapon. They were quick to come up with ideas that would complete their ideal builds. Klutz-Specter suggested: “So, we got the Krieg Drip, the Krieg Mindset, and the Bayonets. All we need now are shovels”.
YummyLighterFluid had a similar idea. This player noted: “I wanna pair this with the Field Chemist Armor and the Constitution Rifle along with a flamethrower and a Gas Strike, so I can finally live out my WW1 fantasy in HD2 lmao”.
Of course, many players were concerned that the bayonet would be another variant of the Constitution Rifle. However, we think that the bayonet might arrive just in time for the teased weapon customization system. That would be quite a treat.
As is with any leaks, there is no way to know when and if this weapon will ever actually be in Helldivers 2. So, while we patiently wait for the devs to do their part, we suggest you enjoy all the new buffs and help out your fellow divers in the latest Major Order, it’s quite a nail-biter.
