Players Realized What Gas Actually Does in Helldivers 2 and They Couldn’t Be Happier

Chemical Agents is here and the players had a couple of days to test out all the new toys Arrowhead gave us. The first thing everyone noticed is that now some Warbond items are Stratagems that you have to unlock first, which caught everyone by surprise. Apart from that, the whole theme is obviously chemical warfare, ie, it really doubles down on gas weaponry.

Sterilizer is Not Just a Green Flamethrower

What more and more players started to notice when using the new Sterilizer is that it doesn’t deal some incredible amount of damage. Rather, it applies a condition on enemies that disorients them and makes them attack whatever is the closest.

“It gets the terminids HIGH. ALL OF THEM. It disoriented them and makes them go in [random] directions and attack anything! I sprayed at a Bile titans and it started freaking out! It’s a support weapon!” said Illustrious_Sand3705.

It works perfectly on both Terminids and Automatons and is a great tool for dealing with both Hulks and Chargers, even though getting close to Automatons is easier said than done. But it offers a whole new way of dealing with enemies of Super Earth and that is always better than just another regular damage-dealing weapon with a different aesthetic.

Gas Weapons Are Not About Dealing Damage

Players had hilarious reactions when they found out that you can simply confuse your enemies to death. “I sprayed a charger and it got angry and started running down a bunch of hunters. 10/10 would recommend. Also yes it does seem to affect bile titan, gas strike made it stagger and walk away from me in confusion.” said ParanormalSouper.

If you think of it, “you are basically the support “mage” of the group casting confuse on the enemy.”, as stated by guardedDistruption. All in all, it is a great support weapon. “Really nice support for making sure sentries or teammates with heavier support weapons don’t get bogged down,” added RainInSoho.

It turns out that giving Arrowhead time to truly focus on fixing the game and adding new content has paid out. Great stuff, devs!
