Boosters play an important role in your Helldivers 2 loadout, but many players insist that most of them aren’t powerful enough. While some of them are staples in nearly every drop, others have been left by the wayside. So in a sense, they tend to be right – some boosters are simply not up to par with the meta options.
What if weaker boosters get combined?
There have been many proposals on how to address non-meta boosters over the past few months. From complete reworks to buffs, even inclusion in the default section. Recently, Reddit user stinkmybiscuit shared another idea – what if some of the boosters were combined? In essence, this is what they proposed:
- Hellpod Space Optimization: add to the base kit
- Vitality Enhancement + Motivational Shocks: Combine
- Stamina Enhancement + Muscle Enhancement: Combine
- Increased Reinforcement Budget + Flexible Reinforcement Budget: Combine
- Expert Extraction Pilot: Remove
Now, we’re aware that Vitality and Stamina Enhancements aren’t really weaker boosters, in fact most groups run them all the time. The logic being that combining others with them would let their perks create even more powerful versions, while leaving room for others to get included.
This proposal has sparked a larger discussion surrounding not only boosters, but also a way to make some of their effects more dynamic. For instance, RuinedSilence suggested: “I think it’d be cool if instead of a booster giving us extra reinforcements, it should make completing objectives/outposts replenish reinforcements instead like in the first game.”
Meanwhile, many others don’t agree that the Expert Extraction booster should get axed. Instead, various proposals were made on how to make it more useful. From ideas like being able to call down extraction anywhere – which could cause clipping issues, not to mention trolling potential. To ideas like being able to call for extraction remotely, but still have to go to the extraction point. Yet others suggested that this booster should call down Pelican-1 automatically when the mission timer runs out, with the shuttle waiting for you. All of these could work, though some present more problems than others. The biggest issue with this booster is that it affects only the last leg of a mission and before that doesn’t do anything to help your team.
Helldivers 2 need more booster variety
One popular suggestion is to create a booster that would extract your collected samples, even if you fail to extract yourself. There have been rumours circulating that a similar booster was already in the works, so we can only hope that it comes to fruition. It would help with a lot of headaches during harder missions and almost be an auto-include on higher difficulties for those precious Super Samples.
It remains to be seen what Arrowhead decides to do with boosters once it’s their time for a development pass. They have mentioned that they want to do more with these perks, so we hope they have an idea of the direction they want to take them. How do you feel about non-meta boosters? Which ones are your favourite off-picks?
