After making probably the toughest decision in the recent Major Order, the CCO of Arrowhead surprised everyone by announcing a donation in the name of Helldivers 2 players. In the sea of grateful comments, one was especially intriguing, as the Helldivers 2 CCO finally gave an update on the long-expected Review-bomb Cape.
Everything We Know About the Review-Bomb Cape
If you’ve been playing Helldivers 2 for a while, you probably already know about the whole PSN account controversy. If you haven’t, or you just missed it, here’s a little recap. Around the beginning of May, Sony issued a statement saying that all Helldivers 2 players must have a PSN account. As a bonus, all players would get a cape.
That made no sense to PC players and represented a security risk. They united and review-bombed Helldivers 2 until Sony budged. Dedicated players created the so-called Review-bomb Cape design. It featured the graph with all the negative reviews to represent players’ victory over Sony. IntroductionSudden73 suggested a design.
The then CEO sided with the players. He said: “Well, I guess it’s warranted. Sorry everyone for how this all transpired. I hope we will make it up and regain the trust by providing a continued great game experience”. Pilestedt even teased the addition of Review-bomb Cape by posting a picture featuring it on May 11.
On June 14, TheSlay3r247 asked: “Hey, Pilestedt, how are those Review-bomb capes coming along? I haven’t heard anything since the incident about them and was wondering if they were still in the pipeline”. Almost immediately, the CCO replied: “Right. It’s done on our end, but we want to find the right time to release it”.
Helldivers 2 Players Have Strong Opinions About the Review-Bomb Cape
As expected, players were thrilled by this little update. Alex raved: “Damn, the communication from you guys is next level. Seriously industry standard setting. Keep up the hard work all of you at Arrowhead”. JoeCuppaCoco added: “Any time is a good time bro, will generate discussion no matter when you drop it. It’s our democratic right to rock that cape”.
Others thought about all the players in non-supported countries. TryingToBeReallyCool stated: “Once we have total victory over Sony I think the cape will be released. From my interactions with the devs through bug reports and discord conversations, they are 100% on the players’ side here. They dislike the country ban just as much as we do. Once that’s resolved, I bet we get the cape, along with many more Helldivers from around the world. For Super Earth”.
We hope the CCO will grant the Helldivers 2 players’ wishes and the devs will add the Review-bomb Cape soon. Especially if that meant Sony lifting the restrictions for non-supported countries. Imagine the sheer number of new Helldivers helping us out on another Major Order. It would be wonderful and we truly wish for it to happen.
