If you haven’t checked it out yet, a new Warbond has been announced. Viper Commandos is arriving on June 13. Players are conspiring that Helldivers 2 might get another addition in the form of a new biome. Fans worldwide raved about all their wishes. Do you think they’ll come true?
Fans Are Head Over Heels for the New Biome
The new Warbond was announced via X. The announcement featured a video that showcased all the new merch. While amazed by the new items, dedicated fans immediately noticed the environment. Katherine Baskin, a Community Manager, dropped some hints in a blog. She said: “Think jungle. Think swamp. Think about a hot, humid trek through an untamed, marshy wilderness to do reconnaissance on some unliberated scum”.
She added: “If you ask me, this is our strongest themed Warbond yet, with Helldivers equipped from head to boots with the finest tools to live out their jungle combat dreams”. Neither the blog nor the announcement mentioned the addition of a new biome, but we feel like it might be cooking. And, boy, do fans dream of it.
The topic of more biomes and bigger diversity has been around for a while. Back in March, Redditors started pushing ideas for some additions. Zynergy17 said: “I saw in a recent discussion from the developers that they were interested in adding more biomes to the game”. They shared their ideas, which included “a dense and dark forest map” and “a rainforest with abundant plant life”. We’re glad that their wishes might come true!
Now, the possibility hyped up the fans. Hengilore raved: “Maybe it’s just me, but I feel more excited for the new jungle biome than the Warbond itself”. CeltoIberian added: “Thank God they’re working on adding new planetary environments. Current ecology rotation was getting kind of stale. I hope we see even more types of terrain like mountainous snow or taiga”.
Are the Players Concerned or Just Very Excited?
Players shared their expectations for this biome. Jandrix said: “Can’t wait to see what sort of reduced visibility debuff they cook up to compliment the field of the 10 other reduced visibility effects”. Born_Inflation_9804 suggested: “Acid Clouds and Ion Storms”. ReisysV added: “Planetary modifier: thick as f**k rainy fog haze. Come on down to (not) see the new jungle biome! There are trees in there somewhere”.
Other players discussed specifics. Medical_Sea_2598 said: “I wonder how Stratagems are going to be affected, if the thick trees can be levelled or if the trees will make the eagle payloads a bit useless”. Another player, WarmasterCain55, dreaded the bugs. They said: “I’m waiting for the Biles to get a sneak buff to their sneakiness blending in with the trees. You know it’s going to happen”.
Overall, even the slight possibility of a new biome in Helldivers 2 overjoyed the players. HeatedWafflez praised: “I really look forward to what Arrowhead can do. They’ve already shown they care so much about their game and what the players think. I can only hope to see the game grow”.
We completely agree. Players can see the dedication that the developers show to this game. That’s important. Big changes require time. You make more progress in the right direction by taking one step at a time. Hopefully, we’ll be fighting in the jungle soon enough.
