Today marks the beginning of a new era for Arrowhead. Following several controversies, a drop in the number of players, and Helldivers 2 fans’ general dissatisfaction, Pilestedt has decided to leave his role as the CEO of Arrowhead, leaving players confounded. Don’t worry! He isn’t going anywhere, he is just assuming a new role within the company.
Arrowhead Announces their New CEO
Pilestedt shared a statement via X: “Big update, I’ve decided to hire ShamsJorjani as the new CEO of ArrowheadGS! We go way back and I wouldn’t trust the business in any other hands than his. (…and he comes with an impressive resume and a love for games) But what about me and my involvement in Helldivers2? Well, I’m glad you asked! I am taking the role of Chief Creative Officer, which means I will spend MORE time with the team and 100% of my focus on the games and community!”
What Can Helldivers Fans Expect From the New CEO Shams Jorjani?
Jorjani’s X bio states: “Video game “enthusiast”. Former Chief Chaos Pilot at Paradox Interactive. Not a vampire”. (Sounds like something a vampire would say, to be honest). He is a veteran of the gaming industry and a self-professed nerd. He is credited on 60 games in several different roles. Seeing his accomplishments makes us believe that he was a perfect choice to replace Pilestedt.
Former CEO Found a Balance Between Arrowhead and His Own Desires
In a since-released interview, the former CEO recalled being torn between the business side and the creative side, with the latter being much more alluring to him. He said: “After some contemplation and deep anxiety on how things are going to pan out, I finally came to the proper conclusion that I will have to follow my heart. It’s not only right for me, but it’s also right for the organisation. Having a reluctant CEO is not something that will turn out that well, I think”.
We wholeheartedly agree! And we salute the hard decision that he made. In addition to assuming the role of Chief Creative Officer, Pilestedt will also stay on as a chairman. With recent good credit with the fans, we are sure he will accomplish much, much more in his new role.
Helldivers 2 Players Support the Former Arrowhead CEO
Fans took to Reddit to express their shock over the announcement. All of the reactions have been extremely positive and supportive. Comprehensive_Toe113 said: “This is actually really f**king good. Now he can get in and actually do the things he’s been wanting to”. Drekal added: “Spend some money to handle the business side so you can go back to your passion. Good for him ! Let’s hope it will be good for the game as well”.
We completely agree with inlukewarmblood. They said: “Honestly this is a seriously impressive show of character. Things weren’t going the way he wanted, so instead of stamping down on his employees, he demoted himself in order to take over properly. Not a lot of people would do that”.
