A new Season of Fortnite is upon us. Titled “Wrecked”, Season 3 brings some fast and furious features and content to Fortnite Chapter 5, so keep reading to see what that is all about.
Seasons are how Fortnite keeps things fresh and interesting for years. They usually revolve around a theme, and all weapons, Outfits, etc are inspired by it. For example, the last Season, called Myths and Mortals, was based on Greek mythology. Even the Island was reformed to accommodate Mount Olympus, River Stix, and other similar locations. Now, the next Season of Fortnite is here. Read on to see all the new features and content in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3.
Features and Content in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 – Wrecked
The latest Season is named Wrecked, and it is based on the post-apocalyptic theme, like in Fallout or Mad Max, where tough Wasteland Warriors are driving around in decked-out vehicles, ready for combat. There are new mechanics, skins, Battle Pass, bosses, and more.
New Biome and Locations
A new biome has appeared to the south, called Wasteland. It even has a couple of new Points of Interest:
- Redline Rig – a Nitro refinery, operated by The Machinist
- Nitrodrome – a circus-like car spectacle, run by Ringmaster Scarr
- Brutal Beachhead – the base of Wasteland Warriors, where Megalo Don resides.
Additionally, Snooty Steppes have received a makeover and are now called Sandy Steppes.
Nitro
What is a car-based event without some Nitro? That’s right, Nitro has been introduced to Fortnite in two ways: one as a buff and another as an explosive weapon.
Nitro Splash – this is a portable Nitro container that you can use to buff yourself or your vehicle.
If you apply the Splash on yourself you will get the following benefits:
- Movement speed increase.
- Explosive bashing power that deals damage and knockback.
- Stamina consumption decrease.
- Reload speed increase.
- Fall damage immunity.
If you apply the Splash on your vehicle, it will get:
- Driving speed increase.
- Explosive ramming power that deals damage and knockback.
- Fuel consumption decrease.
- Buff to attached attack mods.
Nitro Barrels – these barrels contain a lot of Nitro and will Nitro-fy on contact. Once hit, they will fly away and explode upon landing. With luck, right on top of your enemies.
New and Returning Weapons
A couple of new weapons are added. One for close combat and another perfect for destroying other vehicles.
- Nitro Fists – these huge fists are powered by Nitro, and you can perform a three-punch-combo, an uppercut, and an aerial punch. These strikes use charges, which the Fists periodically recharge. Using the aerial punch to hit the ground will have meteoric consequences, as the devs say.
- Boom Bolt – this is a crossbow that shoots explosive bolts. It can wreck a car with only a couple of hits.
After the new weapons, here’s a list of all the weapons that are either unvaulted or are carried over from the previous Season.
- Cerberus’ Gatekeeper Shotgun

Vehicle Mods, Repair, and Healing
To keep the Mad-Max theme, you can now modify your ride with different upgrades, from cow-catchers to roof-mounted guns. You can equip these Mods simply by hitting the Vehicle Mod Boxes with your car, represented by wooden boxes with images in them. The images in the box correspond with the mod inside it, so you can know which boxes to hit.
The new Vehicle Mods are:
- Machine Gun Turret (roof slot) – “Have a passenger fire a machine gun while someone else drives!”
- Grenade Launcher Turret (roof slot) – “Some would call this littering, but the Grenades will get rid of themselves by exploding.”
- Spiked Bumper (front bumper slot) – “Deal more damage to players and objects on impact.”
- Cow Catcher (front bumper slot) – “Boost your ramming power and give your car some defensive armor.”
- Bulletproof Tires (tires slot) – “Tired of tire poppers? Make your tires indestructible!”
- Chonkers Off-Road Tires (tires slot) – “Make your car more off-road friendly. Especially useful if you’re not driving an SUV!”
As for healing, there are Repair Boxes that you can hit to restore the health of your vehicle. Additionally, the Repair Torch has been unvaulted, so you can manually fix things, and Gas Stations have been replaced with Service Stations, where you can refill your car’s gas and health.
Even drivers need refreshments, so in the wake of the Fallout series, Nuka-Cola has been added to Fortnite. Sip some Nuka-Cola and your health and shields will gradually be restored. Lastly, you can even use flora from the Wasteland to your advantage. Hit the Slurp Cactus with your pickaxe and splash it around (or drive through it) and both you and your vehicle will get healed.
New Bosses and War Bus
As with every season, there are a couple of bosses that you can fight. Defeating these bosses will yield powerful rewards, like weapons, special items, and maybe some crazy vehicles.
The Machinist – you can find her either roaming the Wasteland or in Redline Rig. Defeat her to get The Machinist’s Medallion (regenerates shield) and The Machinist’s Combat Assault Rifle. You can use the Medallion to open her garage in the Rig and take her car.
Ringmaster Scarr – she’s also found her either roaming the Wasteland or at the Nitrodrome. Defeat her to get Ringmaster Scarr’s Medallion (unlimited ammo and damage buff) and Ringmaster Scarr’s Boom Bolt. You can use her Medallion to open the garage in Nitrodrome and take her decked-out vehicle.
Megalo Don – the toughest of them all, you can find Megalo Don in his base, the Brutal Beachhead. Defeat him to get Megalo Don’s Medallion (infinite Nitro) and Megalo Don’s Nitro Fists. As you’d expect, defeat him in his base and use the Medallion to take his ride for a spin.
Additionally, there is a war-rig-like vehicle called War Bus. Two of them patrol the island and only the bravest can hope to take them over. But if you do, you will have the most powerful vehicle in your hands, equipped with two cannons and an EMP Pulse-producing horn.
