If you’re a fan of the first installment, then you’re probably wondering if there will be romance in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Let’s unpack the question at hand based on what we know ahead of the launch.
Set to launch on March 22, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is Capcom’s latest fantasy RPG, which follows up the first entry in the series over a decade later. The new installment takes place across two realms, featuring a handful of character races and vocations, otherwise known as classes. You’ll have your pick of the bunch when you create your Arisen and Pawn companion. With a slew of upgrades made to both systems, many are curious whether developer and publisher Capcom has also tweaked the Beloved System of the original title. Will there be romance in Dragon’s Dogma 2? Here’s what we know ahead of the launch.

Does Dragon’s Dogma 2 Have an Affinity System?
Dragon’s Dogma 2 does have an “affinity” system and we do know that the game features romantic and sexual content, per director Hideaki Itsuno’s interview with IGN. This is reflected in the RPG’s Mature rating, which denotes the player’s ability to interact with sex workers. However, explicit content is not featured in the game.
Itsuno has described upgrades to the relationship system, which applies to casual and platonic connections, too. At times, you may witness two NPCs vying for the player’s affection, or see your bond with other characters strengthened or weakened by doing kind deeds or behaving cruelly.
In short, if you give appropriate gifts to NPC, their affinity towards you will increase. In the NPC logbook, you can check what gifts each NPC likes. But, in order to romance a character, a series of quests has to be done. And, not all characters can be romancable.
All Romancable Characters in Dragon’s Dogma 2
For now, the list of romancable options in DD2 is quite short. You only have two female characters that you can enter into a relationship with.
