A female Archer prepares for battle in Dragons Dogma 2

Of all the characters you can romance in Dragon’s Dogma 2, Ulrika is one of the first you’ll meet. Let’s go over the steps you need to take to move forward in your relationship.

Ulrika is one of the very first romanceable characters you’ll meet on your Dragon’s Dogma 2 playthrough. From the start, it’s made pretty obvious that she cares for the Arisen, but you’ll need to follow a pretty extensive questline in order to bring your relationship to fruition. Since you become familiar with Ulrika early on, you can get started almost immediately. That said, you’ll need to be careful not to miss these early-game cues, as you may not have the chance to develop your relationship with Ulrika later on. With this in mind, we’ve outlined the questline to help you woo Ulrika in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

How to Romance Ulrika in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Your efforts to romance Ulrika in Dragon’s Dogma 2 will take place over the course of several quests, including:

  • Readvent of Calamity
  • Home Is Where the Hearth Is
  • Trouble on the Cape

As mentioned, the first quest is easy to miss out on, as it’s initiated by undisclosed trigger events. That means you’ll need to follow the proper steps to move forward in your relationship with Ulrika. Along the way, Verworth, Melve, and Harve Village will be significant locations. The first area is where you’ll need to start with specific quests, which serve as prerequisites of sorts on your relationship questline.

Prerequisites

There’s a handful of conditions you’ll need to meet before you can actually romance Ulrika in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Specifically, here’s what you need to do.

  • Complete main story quests for Brant in Vernworth to trigger the Readvent of Calamity side quest.
    • Note: By finishing all quests but Feast of Deception in Vernworth, you will successfully trigger Readvent of Calamity. Brant will tell you to visit Melve at some point, which is your cue to head there to begin the new side quest.
  • Complete the Home Is Where the Hearth Is quest.
  • Complete the Trouble on the Cape quest to see Ulrika become chief of Harve Village.

“Readvent of Calamity” Quest

As you work to complete the Sovran quests and attend the masquerade ball in Vernworth, Brant will prompt you to head back to Melve at some point. If you go to this area having finished all but Feast of Deception, you’ll be met by another dragon attack and trigger Readvent of Calamity. Put up a fight alongside Melve’s townsfolk to send it flying off.

With the dragon out of the way, you should rest at a campsite and head over to Ulrika’s house to trigger a cutscene. Speak with her again, then go to sleep. When you get up, another scene will begin in which Lennard informs you that Ulrika has escaped.

By continuing the quest from this point, you’ll be taken to Harve Village to locate Ulrika. When you arrive, you’ll see the area has been attacked by Saurians. You can lend Ulrika your aid to fight them off. Having found her, head back to Melve and speak with Lennard. This will finish up the Readvent of Calamity quest.

“Home Is Where the Hearth Is” Quest

Moving on to Phase Two, you’ll need to rest up again to continue your romance questline with Ulrika in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Refreshed, go back to Melve. There, you’ll meet a guard who charges you 5,000 Gold to get in. There’s no way around this, so you’ll need to pay him to move forward. Go to Ulrika’s house to speak with Lennard. This will trigger the Home Is Where the Hearth Is quest.

The quest requires you to buy four swords from the town’s smithy, then deliver them to Lennard. This leads into the breakout of a fight in town, and you’ll need to fight off several guards before you can go back to Lennard. Once you talk, go back to Harve Village and tell Ulrika how Melve is faring.

“Trouble on the Cape” Quest

Following Lennard’s request will take you to Harve Village to speak with Ulrika. This leads into another quest, taking you to Stormwind Cave to rescue civilians. If you can mange, head back to the village square to effectively complete the quest. As a result, Ulrika will become the chief of Harve Village, bringing the Trouble on the Cape quest to a close.

When all is said and done, rest up at a campsite and meet with Ulrika at the beach in the village. A final cutscene will start, finishing up your romance questline with Ulrika.

Did I Mess Up Ulrika’s Romance Questline in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Unfortunately, it’s entirely possible to fail Ulrika’s romance questline in Dragon’s Dogma 2. There are a few ways you can cause a rift in your relationship, one of the biggest being a failure to save Melve from the dragon during Readvent of Calamity. Similarly, progressing through the main story too quickly and heading to Battahl will override the opportunity to save Melve in the first place.

Apart from this, you should be careful not to complete the Harve Village quests in Ulrika’s absence. If you do, this will bring your relationship progression to a standstill and she won’t become chief.

To keep the questline running smoothly, do what you can to check in with Ulrika and increase your affinity. It’s not essential to bring your relationship to fruition, but it can help to streamline the process if you give gifts along the way.
