Trying to get better at Counter-Strike 2? Or you just made an incredible play and you want to show it to your friends. First, you will need to find a way to watch your previous games of CS2. Read on and find out how to play demos in CS2.
What is a demo?
In CS2 demos are recordings of your recent matches. The demo allows you to see the match from all players’ perspectives. Giving you an option to see what each player was doing at any time during the match. Where they were positioned, and how they reacted in the game. This is a great way to learn more about the game, and how to correct any mistakes you made.

How to play a demo?
To watch demos in CS2 you will first need to download a demo to watch. To do this follow the instructions below and we will guide you through all the necessary steps.
- You will have to log in to your Steam account and go to your Games.
- Find Counter-Strike 2 and click on My Game Status, then from the drop-down menu select Personal Game Data.
- There you will have to select Premier matches. It will show you all the matches you have played in CS2. Select one and press Download GOTV demo.
- You will have to Unzip the downloaded file into the games installation folder, which is usually located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\game\csgo.
- After you Unziped the file it is best to rename it for easier use in the future. For ease of use, we will call it demo01.
- Now you start CS2 and tap the console key (usually ` or ~ button on the keyboard) to open the console menu, where you type ‘playdemo demo01’.
Another way to watch demos is:
- Launch CS2
- In the top left corner, you will see a small TV icon. Clicking on it will bring you to a list of all matches you played recently.
- Pick the match you want to watch and click on the Download button. When the download finishes, the button will switch to Watch.
- Clicking on the Watch button will start the chosen match as a demo.
