Torches are important in Baldur’s Gate 3 for lighting the way down dark paths, making fire weapons, and can even be used as a weapon themselves. Torches are also found everywhere in the world within the game, including from camps and traders, so it is key to know how to quickly equip and use them. This guide will show players how to use torches in Baldur’s Gate 3.

How To Equip Torches in Baldur’s Gate 3

Torches can be equipped to the Light Source slot located in your character’s inventory screen. Every character in the game can equip their own torch in this slot. To quickly take out a torch to illuminate a dark area, you can press the Light Source button on the bottom hotbar at any time, without having to go through menus to find and manually equip one.

While players can equip a torch to the Light Source in their inventory, this can be switched out for other items if necessary. For example, it could be a specific moon lantern that you encounter at the beginning of Act 2 that would take up your Light Souce spot. Similarly, you can use torches in combat to deal extra fire damage if needed. Also, you can use them as a source of fire with Dip action to light your arrows and other weapons.
