Custom party creation is not built into Baldur’s Gate 3, but there is a way to effectively make a party of your own with the game’s multiplayer feature. Moreover, you can also switch out Origin characters for Hirelings to balance out the classes of your party members.
How to Create a Custom Party in Baldur’s Gate 3
There are two ways in which you can go about creating a custom party in Baldur’s Gate 3.
- Create up to four custom characters per party in multiplayer.
- Recruit Hirelings with fixed builds from Withers.
While you’re generally tasked with assembling a party by recruiting various companions in a single-player campaign, you can effectively bypass this by teaming up with other players, who can then create custom characters. Baldur’s Gate 3 fans have recommended recruiting potential party members on popular game forums and servers like Discord. This way, you can delegate specific builds with complementary strengths to put together an ideal team, which will remain in tact whether you continue playing together or not. In the event that other players do quit, you will gain full control over the additional party members.
On the other hand, recruiting Hirelings from Withers can be an easy fix if you’re looking to customize your party by balancing out classes and builds in Baldur’s Gate 3. This doesn’t offer quite the same level of customization, as each Hireling has a fixed build. However, it’s quick and simple. Not to mention, each Hireling you recruit will only set you back 100 Gold.
