Gaming Journalism Is Over

The gaming press declares that gamers are dead. But they are the ones who are becoming obsolete.

phatpahari3528d ago

Sounds like good career advice, to me.

NewMonday3528d ago (Edited 3528d ago )

one thing for sure is that with exemptions the gaming press are no longer one of us, they brought this on themselves with their lack of professional standards and conduct, disrespecting their audience and claiming moral superiority.

HighResHero3527d ago (Edited 3527d ago )

They got caught out and now they are in damage control mode trying to place the blame elsewhere.
They are desperately playing cards that a cornered sociopath would play. Unfortunately for them this is 2014 and we are no longer the dark ages. Their moves, motivation, and goals are too transparent.
Great that you mention them claiming moral superiority because it really highlights some of the hypocrisy.

DarkOcelet3527d ago

They are the plague of the gaming community . I have never seen such stupidity in my life .

Blacktric3527d ago (Edited 3527d ago )

Not only them, but the whole SJW scene that was trying to sh*t up the gaming is shaking in fear right now and using every pathetic tactic they can think of.

For instance, after some a-hole (not associated himself with Gamergate in any way FYI) tweeted disgusting child porn pictures to Anita, she published the account's username on her Twitter, basically encouraging people to check it out for themselves.

And Anthony Burch (ex Destructoid writer, writer of Borderlands 2) exploded to Gamergate supporters by saying that we enable and legalize harrasment by encouraging usage of CP pics to harrass others. Which completely ignores the fact that we were the ones who were mass reporting that account to both Twitter and FBI while Anita was trying to exploit the situation by turning it into "LOOK AT ME! I'M THE VICTIM" by using disgusting child abuse in her favor.

And if these people have become this petty and pathetic, we can basically assume that their asses are on fire.

They have the means to spread BS everywhere and they are doing so to deflect attention away from their lack of integrity & skill.

Gaming "JOURNALISM" never began.. Gaming news has rather been here the whole time..

Ogygian3527d ago

Only the game news "industry" would attack its own customers so brazenly.

I mean McDonalds wouldn't change its menu to salads only and then start calling its customers stupid, ignorant fatties for almost unanimously protesting against the change.

Indeed, games journalism needs to grow up and join the real world. At present it seems half-stuck in a college social studies class.

To hell and be damned with these corrupt advertisement agencies that pretend to be journalists.

Seems they are rustled that I would rather go watch a video to get an idea of what a game is like.

This is why Giant Bomb are one of the best, they have recognised the potential of video uploads and they do quick looks for games injecting their personalities to make an entertaining and enjoyable viewing.

Rather than basing their score on their advertisement income.

EKWB reportedly plagued with financial disarray many gaming pc's left without parts

EK Cooling allegedly has slipped itself into a hot soup of seemingly endless financial woes, where it has not paid its staff, suppliers, and contractors for many months as the company is facing liquidity problems and a surplus of inventory left unsold, stuck in the warehouse for a more extended period. Gamers Nexus investigated these claims made by former and current personnel, where he found trails of unpaid bills lasting as long as three to four months and unpaid raises that accumulated for almost a year.

EK Water Blocks has two entities—a Slovenian-based headquarters and a US-based subsidiary, EK Cooling Solutions. Steve narrated the series of events in detail, stating that the company was reportedly irresponsible and negligent regarding payment. Consequently, partners and employees are forced to share the burden of alleged mismanagement. It all begins with its extensive range of products, leading to a surplus of goods. EK has over 230 water blocks, 40 liquid cooling kits, 85 reservoirs, 40 pumps, 73 radiators, and 212 miscellaneous accessories.

Yes this is not about video games directly but indirectly this will impact the pc gaming/workstation space hard.

This company is massive one of two in the water cool space so if it goes poof then thousands out there have no spare parts or half built computers.

SO yeah i know not about a video game but think of it as amd leaving the pc space but this is ekwb that could be leaving water cooling in the pc space

Jayz2cents a supporter of there products also has issues

As someone that has built a watercooling rig. EK is big, but there's so many numerous watercooling part companies out there. EK's stuff isn't exactly amazing quality for the price compared to others either, it's just ok. Much like Corsair. The impact would be negligible long term. For perspective the majority of my parts are XSPC, at most I use EK for my gpu waterblocks and fittings. Both easily replaceable.
