Xûr Visits Destiny Again, Here are his Location and the Exotic Loot he Sells

The mysterious vendor Xûr is back on Destiny like every weekend, and again he comes he comes loaded with a bag full of loot, demanding Strange Coins and Motes of Light to help you on the path to power.

I'm probably going to get the Ice Breaker as my first exotic, sounds pretty awesome since it regenerates it's own ammo, which will work excellent for me while soloing the weekly heroic strikes. Since a lot of the time in these strikes I am REALLY hurting for ammo (especially during the near impossible boss fights). And unlike other parts of this game, ammo doesn't automatically regenerate after a certain amount of time. So having a very powerful sniper rifle with infinite ammo will be a HUGE plus for me. This also works well for me since I don't even have a legendary secondary yet.

As a Warlock, I'll pass on the chest piece, I never use hand cannons and spawning with full grenade energy seems more like a plus for the crucible than PvE, and I rarely ever play crucible unless there is a special event like the Iron Banner (I am PvE solo first and foremost). Plus I will lose 75 intellect and 74 discipline for only 111 strength, and for me strength is mostly useless.

BTW, anybody try the helmet engram yet? I would rather not waste most of my motes of light to end up with something for the Titan class or something lame like that.

I was going to buy the Warlock chest piece, but I got the engram first and it turned out to be Apotheosis Veil. I'm thinking of just keeping my coins and buying a weapon next week.

Icebreaker is really nice for PvE. I usually use scout rifles for PvE due to accuracy and ammo efficiency, but I feel like I can mix things up a bit more now that I have a secondary with regenerating ammo.

go with the ice breaker man, that sniper is bad ass, the regen ammo is so handy.... it was my first exotic and pretty much the only special I use

I got he ice breaker...but me personally since im a titan my exotic of choice is the Invective. That shotgun is badass.

Wow, decided to get Ice Breaker and I have to say, this weapon adds a WHOLE new dimension to my Destiny experience. Never having to worry about ammo is simply amazing, which means I can just have fun with it and never worry/care if I run out since it just regenerates new ammo in a few seconds. And since I am tasked with upgrading it, I whip it out every chance I get. Makes for a VERY fun experience, even if just droning for patrol missions in the cosmodrone!! Everything is OHK.

Also I managed to score another exotic bounty not too long after getting this weapon, which is funny since I am still working on a different exotic bounty I got a few days ago. Life is good in the Destiny universe! Not only do I have my awesome new infinite ammo sniper rifle to play with, but also Bad Juju and Invective once I complete those bounties! Plus Invective also regenerates ammo once upgraded a bit, which means I can swap freely during missions and never have to worry about finding new ammo!! If I didn't need sleep, I would just keep on playing this game for as long as possible!

I think it goes without saying, but I absolutely LOVE Destiny!

Its one round every 4 seconds constantly until it maxes out at 6. Its extremely powerful at taking down bosses, in pvp its a monster precision sniper with low recoil. Sounds awesome too

There is nothing else to spend the motes on. Buy the engram everytime you can. Dismantle if you don't like the results.

Helmets tend to have the biggest advantage in terms of abilities and the upgrade in defense, so I'm holding off any of his gear for my warlock until there's one available. Got the one last week for my titan, man is it great, and just purchased the engram yesterday... Got a Hunter helmet -_- well, looks like I'll be making a third character, considering it's got an ADS radar on it.

I just got the Icebreaker early this morning (2AM PST) as well. Have not tried to use it yet, but my bro has one and it is indeed awesome the way the ammo regenerates itself.
One of the upgrades even allows missed shots to return ammo back into the magazine. It is a no-brainer for doing higher level strikes and nightfall.

Do not get the exotic engram unless you have a lot of Mote of Lights and do not know what to spend it on. I bought in total 3 exotic engrams since released and not once has it been for my class. It is always for another class other than your own (except a very very small percentage) based on my own experience. I even tried it again last night and got the same Warlock helmet (Apotheosis Veil) that I got last week, when tried to gamble with it again.

From now on, I would rather use the Mote of Lights on emblems and class items that you can buy from the speaker. Like I said, unless one has a lot of them that they have no idea what else to spend them on. Then again, your luck might be better than mines, but three week straight and they are for other classes other than my own is something I would not do again.

I feel you man, I started at a titan, and got 3 legendary pieces of armour for a warlock, so I made another character, then bought the engram last night, got a Hunter helmet. Best thing to do is have 3 characters, even though getting them to 20 takes time it's worth it.

I spend all my motes of light on engrams from xur just because the only things you can buy with motes are class armor and emblems from the speaker or exotic engrams from xur.. in my opinion id much rather have and exotic than a class item or emblems.. hopefully in the future there will be more options for buying other stuff with motes..

Actually your ammo does regenerate after 30 seconds when you run out of ammo. So technically you do have infinite ammo anyway.

seriously, play any mmo type game, they all have systems in place to trade rare currency for ultra-rare gear... why does it matter all of a sudden when destiny picks up a nearly decade old practice? everything people cry about, in regards to destiny, has been a staple of the mmo scene for YEARS... heck, i've grinded for gear for WEEKS in FFXIV, why does everybody think its blasphemy now?

Because this is more of a mainstream game, while most other MMO's are not. I don't think most MMO's have had this size of a mainstream audience.

I think a lot of the complaints are from people that aren't used to these types of things.

I've thought the same exact thing you just said numerous times since Destiny came out. Its the only thing I can think of.

Look at Diablo 3. That game got great reviews, and rightfully so, I love it too! BUT, one of the biggest complaints about Destiny is the lack of missions, and how they all play the same and its just a big grindfest. Again, look at Diablo. All you do in that game is run around the same areas, killing the same monsters and NOTHING else. You start a level, go through the level killing everything, fight a boss, then go back to town. Explain to me how that is any different than what people are complaining about in Destiny?

I agree with both of you and have been thinking and saying basically the same thing since released.
A lot of the reasons people complain and QQ about Destiny is what basically all MMORPG games has been doing. It is the grinding and working towards increasingly rare gears to acquire and make your character stronger that people get hooked on.

I agree with this to an extent. The mainstream audience, especially those of the more FPS than anything else variety, will find this strange.

That said, the lack of content...I mean come on. The few strikes we get to grind are just not enough. The lack of any coherent story also is a big negative.

That said, I grind away because the gameplay is rock solid.

I got the Ice Breaker last night from completing the Raid for the first time (as well as the trophy). Just means I can save my coins for next week instead of complaining like a lot of other players.

Weapon wise I can say my story is from bounties or completing missions; armor wise outside the hands (got them from the Raid) they're bought since I can't ever get armor engrams to drop post patch (before patch the whole 2 I did get were blue armor).

RNG is Random Number Generator. Essentially, it just means how lucky you are to get decent equipment from the drops instead of having to use currency (Motes of Light or Strange Coins) to buy the ultra-rare (Legendary, or in this case, Exotic) gear.

It's a standard to have an exotic armor/weapon now. I think they should add another tier of gear that's truly difficult to acquire

There are exotics that Xur does not sell and can only be acquired either completing the Vault of Glass on HARD (Vex MythoClast) and even then its only a chance to get it as the end mission reward.

Other exotics like The Last Word (among others) can only be obtained as a random drop during PVP, strikes, nightfall, legendary engrams, etc.

So some exotics are truly exotic if you put it that way.

I guess I'll get the ICE BREAKERS, and the Voidfang Vestments. That will put me at 5 exotic weapons, and 2 exotic armor pieces....

Too bad you can only equip 1 exotic at a time, but I'm sure there will be an event similar to the iron banner were you will be able to equip more than 1. Or Atleast one can dream :-)

I'm a level 28 Warlock, and I tried it last week. I received an exotic helmet for a hunter class. It was the Knucklhead Radar helmet :-(. I want the Skull of Dire Ahamkara, or Light Beyond Nemesis helmet. I passed on the Apotheosis Veil helmet a few weeks ago, and only have the sunbreakers.

DLC will probably be required for the next level cap raise. What I'm hoping they do is allow the use of full exotic gear, and add a new tier of god-like weaponry. Possibly something that comes with its own super ability that could replace the current one or add to it. Could even be a new weapon/armour slot for it, like a third person weapon, similar to the sword of crota or shield in the raid.

Kind of annoyed Xur is just handing out exotics for special coins. I got Ice Breaker last night from killing Atheon and it felt really good because it's probably the best pve sniper on the game and I felt sort of "special" for having it and in the span of 12 hours they've just came and completely taken that away from me as now everyone will have the gun.

Xur gives out exotics for currency exactly because not everyone is as lucky as you are.

Tokens like strange coins are a mechanic in basically all MMOs to balance out bad luck.

So you got lucky and got it from the raid. That's all it was, luck. Nothing special about that. The Raid isn't even difficult on normal mode. Now if you completed Hard mode and received it, MAYBE then your complaint would have some merit. But getting lucky with a random drop that most people get Ascendant Shards from is no reason to hate on the item being sold. It likely took more work and skill to get those 17 coins than it did to finish the Raid.

Yours might be different to the one Xur is selling. My Super Pox VLO is nothing like the one that the Vanguard vendor is selling. The bonuses on mine really suck in comparison.

Exotic weapons only have one set of upgrades. Legendary items can have different ones.

His Ice Breaker is the same as everyone else's in the entire game.

I'm trying to figure out whether I should go with Shadow Price or Super Pox VLO next. I don't have a good auto rifle or pulse rifle just yet. I'm leaning towards Shadow Price currently, but that particular pulse rifle happened to catch my eye because the stats looked quite a bit better than any pulse rifle that I have got my hands on so far.

I didn't have enough coins for Suros Regime when it was available, so I do need a decent auto rifle, especially for the Crucible.

Wow... I didn't realize that the exotic sniper rifle regenerates ammo.

I have the Queen's Sniper Rifle (Supremacy) and it's fully upgraded. So I was hesitant about spending my hard earned coins on another sniper rifle that when fully upgraded, only does the same damage. But not having to worry about ammo is amazing.

The Warlock chest piece is nice too...

Id say that if you already have an exotic armor go for the ice breaker, imo its by far the best exotic weapon for pve and makes soloing nightfalls so much easier. Even if you dont use it equip it, let it regen ammo and then switch and still have half for the next item you use.
Edit: Also maybe keep supremacy if you do pvp cause its where the ice breaker falls short
