Why there is black crush on the Xbone version if both are 1080p, was not only affect when sub 1080P? its weird

Elit3Nick3460d ago

It's colour settings, the default setting on the X1 and PS4 are not identical, which is why there is a difference here, but you can manually adjust them to be more of less identical.

tlougotg3460d ago

Yeah i remember seeing washed out COD AW pics and when i first put COD AW into my ps4 it was washed but few setting later and i was Golden, alot of times these reviewers and previewers dont bother fixing things on their tv or even in the in game settings.

Ultra3460d ago (Edited 3460d ago )

Color contrast in skies are way too strong in the XBO version, just like many games on the 360 in general. The blue sky doesn't look smooth maybe because of a different gamut setting.

Copenhagen3460d ago (Edited 3460d ago )

Nice try but the blacks are not "more or less identical". Every game on the X1 has crushed blacks and it's a problem they've yet to fix. MS's Albert Penello earlier this year when he was spinning and damage controlling the early months of the X1 had to be told about the crushed blacks and didn't even know wtf that meant at the time and apparently the software geniuses who per Penello "created direct X" and are some of the best around still can't solve the problem. Just go play Sunset Overdrive and tell me they're not there you're acting like it is something simply fixed in your settings which we both know is blatantly FALSE.

I think it's good to finally see games 1080p on both systems. The game looks great on both consoles so it really just comes down to which console you own or prefer to play it on.

ramiuk13460d ago

pretty sure an RGB setting would change it?
cant see it being more than a setting.
im getting on ps4 but they done an amazing job onboth imo.

UltraNova3460d ago

Suggestions on ps4's calibration?

I'm certain though that the TV's calib is more important which varies from tv to tv of course.

porkChop3460d ago

Probably just the RGB settings on the console. Both consoles should be set to Full RGB, then the colours should be identical.

gangsta_red3460d ago (Edited 3460d ago )

Did someone say BLACK CRUSH!?

Also, I saw a blade of grass in the corner that had some jaggies.

(super) (/s)

These shots are identical, Rockstar did a great job with this game and should be commended.

Parity should be applauded?

That's an awfully strange way to think.

M1ST4K33459d ago

@Captain They give us (PS4) 1080p @ 30 fps (sometimes it even drops), so it's clearly on its limits (not like it's obvious the PS4 could do MUCH better... it's hitting limits...). They can't make it higher than 1080p and they are certainly not implementing different post fx (adding to the QA time) on a multiplat game... That's an exclusive's job. And that's generally why exclusives look better than multiplats... They are made for THE console... not for consoleS....

If Xbox One can handle 1080p @ 30 fps too, then cool! Stop those stupid wars... It's not like we are getting held back because of XB1 in this case...

You know, GTA is very CPU intensive (GTA 4 bottlenecks on my CPU, in my gaming PC, not my GPU) so it's normal that the performances are equal because both consoles have similar CPUs... The advantage on the PS4 side is on the GPU (and GDDR5, arguably) so, unless it's a GPU bound game, you'll see no performance increase on the PS4...

Damn, just play the games... People spend more time fighting here than actually playing :D

I'm off for some GTA5!

hello123460d ago

Rubbish Redgamingtech did a comparison video of call of duty on x box 1 and PS4. And he said the blacks are better on x box 1. What your seeing here is better lighting and better blacks also.

Prove he said blacks were better for x box 1 call of duty 2minutes 30 seconds

JP13693460d ago

Yeah, I much prefer to have crushed blacks that take away detail. / s

From Digital Foundry: "However, on its default brightness setting (matched at 3.3 notches with the PS4 and PC), we notice a native black crush affecting visibility in dark areas. It can be rectified, to an extent, by cranking the in-game brightness up by four points in Advanced Warfare's menu, but the image begins to wash out if we go any further. Not ideal. In our initial campaign performance analysis, we found an area where PS4 has pared back shadows - however, this appears to be a one-off, with every other comparison demonstrating parity in this area."

TL;DR You have no idea what you're taking about.

Copenhagen3460d ago

The desperation in your post is a fanboys wet dream. The crushed blacks have and will continue to be on he X1 and if they haven't fixed it by now they're not going to probably because it's a hardware limitation. Doesn't matter where you cherry pick quotes from and who said what facts are facts so come to terms and move on. It's just a plastic box bro it's okay let it go.

u4one3460d ago (Edited 3460d ago )

im not sure you know what black crush means or actually is. Clearly the two images just show a difference in gamma that can be easily adjusted. it looks like the ps4 gamma is sitting a point or two higher than the x1. its probably around 2.2 and the x1 is around 1.8. This could very well be because of each systems default color profile settings. Simple tweak.

VINNIEPAZ3460d ago

WOW R* did a great job on both. They look exactly the same visually. Only difference i see is some (very slight) better fps on the PS4 version, especially during the cut scenes.

Xb1ps43460d ago

What's this "crushed black"?

The xb1 version looks a bit darker, is that what you mean? I actually prefer the darker image, now I need to know the fps if both are the same and solid with no screen tear or dips I will get the x1 version.

VINNIEPAZ3460d ago

Look at the cutsceens, the P4 version seems slightly more solid imo.

Bytor3460d ago

No he means at night or in dark areas you wont see shit enemies will blend in the scenery Microsoft set their video settings at different values so it allways outputs a vivid picture but your tv cant separate the different shades because its to black it goes beyond what your tv can display PS4 and PC use the standard.

GribbleGrunger3459d ago (Edited 3459d ago )

I'll just leave this here. Can you guess which is the PS4 version:

Is 'black crush' the new n4g fashion term?

Oh goody. Something else for all the dull witted sheep to drone on and on about.

MCTJim3460d ago

Oh boy. They both look fantastic. I'll pass since I already have it on last gen.

Psychotica3459d ago

Last gen is missing quite a few features from the new version like first person view.

cutthroatslim3459d ago

Yea I def wana try this on ps4, I seriously cannot wait :-D !

Godz Kastro3460d ago (Edited 3460d ago )

Whats the point with these comparison articles.? They look exactly the same.

I can understand the old gen/current gen versions but this seems like click bait.

uth113460d ago

because if one of the systems has a single pixel out of place, then clearly there is no justification for owning that system ;)

Godz Kastro3460d ago

haha, i hear you brother.

CaptainObvious8783460d ago

Considering there's a much bigger difference this gen, if you can understand last gen you can sure as hell understand current gen.

NeoGamer2323459d ago

Have you watched the video? If that is a "bigger" difference than most gamers must have way better eyesight than my 20/20 vision. The whole thing look pretty much the same on both consoles. You can nitpick in the detail, but that's about it.

I watched the video and there are shading differences but those existed last gen as well. PS has always seemed to do soft shading/effects while XB has always had sharper shading/effects.

cutthroatslim3459d ago

@neo he's talking about the much bigger diff in MOST games that's talked about THIS GEN compared to the minor differences that were debated last Gen...

DanielGearSolid3460d ago

Wait wat?

THe gearnuke had the x1 version washed out, and this one has ps4 version washed out

I see why ppl wait for Eurogamer now

u4one3460d ago

There are a lot of factors involved with capture - even if its direct feed. you have each systems default color profile specs which are probably different, then you have whether each or both systems are capturing pre or post process, whether the systems have been tweaked, the compression of capture and the compression of putting it on the web since the color gets dithered down to 8bit for jpg, 256 c for gif. only a png can maintain 24 bit color but it still gets compressed and color profiles can be swapped in that compression.

srd44843460d ago

I'm trying to figure out the same thing. It's the opposite on the other comparison. Maybe DF will have a more legit comparison.

I do find it funny that PS4 gamers calling the xb1 washed out but in the other one the ps4 was washed out. and same with the blacks. LOL. Make up your minds people.

GunsAndTheBeast3460d ago (Edited 3460d ago )

That's not washed out, those are real colors. the xbox one's are oversaturated, they made it vivid. If you haven't noticed. It's a trend since xbox 360, they made the color vivid to appear looking better, but in actuallity thy're oversaturated.
Just look at the evidences, they ARE oversaturated. (keep this in mind, next time when someone says the xbox one has better colors, see it for yourself, they always bump up the colors to vivid.)

Who in the world has a natural orange colored face am i right?

and some of them are in different time of days anyway.

i play on all platforms not biased.

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

CrimsonWing6915d ago

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

Profchaos15d ago

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

Ikr mfs that greedy it's ridiculous

andy8515d ago

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all
