Bioware Announced That Dragon Age: Inquisition Has Gone Gold

From Mark Darrah, Dragon Age Executive Producer:

I’m excited to announce that Dragon Age: Inquisition has gone gold on all platforms! This milestone is a testament to the hard work of the developers (and their families!) who put so much into this game, and took on every challenge that was put before them. That we’ve made it this far is also an acknowledgment of tremendous support and patience from our fans: you’ve been an inspiration to us since the beginning.

Well hopefully it's not just gold, but complete as well. I have preordered it because I want a proper RPG but I'm afraid of EA :/
Still looking forward to it though.

Sly-Lupin3463d ago

Well, it's obviously not complete as they announced various DLC and "unannounced" DLC a while back.

I bought a pizza the other night with only a few toppings. It was still a complete pizza even though I didn't have all of them. I also bought a truck that didn't have all the options either, it's still a complete truck.

It can obviously be complete to ship. There are hardly no AAA games released today that does not have scheduled DLC releasing for it. Can we just give it a break already with the whining about DLC, it's all optional, no one *needs* to buy it.

You're both missing the point here. Since you can't realize this, you ARE part of the problem.

DLC should not be announced while a game is being developed. These are ideas that they are choosing to hold from you and making you pay at a later date.

You're pizza analogy was terrible. Here's how it really goes.

We're going to deliver you a pizza. However, we're going to hold the cheese from you and make you pay for it separately.

Awesome news!

Can't wait for this game

This is the game I am most looking forward to for the rest of 2014. I have faith that Bioware is gonna get back on track with this one.

It just dawned on me. I played the 1st 2 on 360 bit I'm getting this one for PS4. I hope it saves everything.

Sly-Lupin3463d ago

Saves everything? If you're talking about the few bits of random dialog that reference decisions you've made in the previous games, you can "create" a save file with that information on this website thing they're doing, and then import it to PS4.

goku3463d ago

Dragon age the keep, it's in open beta now and I have already set all decisions for my game and saved my choices which will now be uploaded to the game once I log in with my origin account, once I have the game of course.

anticlimax3463d ago

Honestly though, the website thing they're doing is pretty good.

Don't think a game developer has ever put that much time and effort in a 'save game creator/editor'

How much you're decisions matter remains to be seen (different protagonist, different time period, partially different location, ...), but praise where it's due for the effort on the website thing!

Prophecylife3463d ago

What does that mean "Game has gone Gold"? Does that mean its super cool or what? :)

Voozi3463d ago

It means all development is done and the game is now ready to ship to stores.

orakle443463d ago (Edited 3463d ago )

It means the game is now ready to be made, the physical manufacturing process of making the game CD's. So all the programming aspects of the process are complete.

Tainted Gene3463d ago

hopefully the game compares to the original Dragon Age Origins

nitus103463d ago

Dragon Age Origins was IMHO an excellent game however I preferred Skyrim's, Oblivion's and many other RPG's too numerous to mention more enjoyable ways of getting to a particular destination.

Basically with "Origins" travel was more like 1) Pick destination on map, 2) Fast travel to that destination with the occasional random battle, 3) Get to destination and explore a relatively small area (more like a sand-box). This is not to say this is bad but other RPG's had IMHO a better exploration method.

I am afraid if the Witcher has the above method of getting to a destination then I think I will be looking at getting Dragons Dogma 2 with hopefully less boring quests, or possibly "The Elder Scrolls V1" if it is ever made although a remake and enhancement of Morrowind (ES III) for the consoles would be attractive.

Note. IMHO "ES Online" does not count since I don't like MMORPG's that you have to pay a monthly subscription for although I don't object to DLC providing it is optional and good value for your money.

Yui_Suzumiya3463d ago

Actually I gave up on Origins because traveling was so arduous. Now the second game I loved. Alot easier to fast travel and get around. Wasting large amounts of time just trying to get from A to B is why I don't like GTA, Oblivion, Far Cry 2 and many other games. I think Fallout 3 and New Vegas are the only games I've ever actually enjoyed exploring every inch of. But it's mostly because of the post apocalyptic back drop.

Inquisition has areas so big that they added mounts to the game in order to traverse them quickly.

Dragon Age: Inquisition Retro Review – A Nostalgic Leap Short Of Legendary

Dragon Age: Inquisition, developed by BioWare, is the third installment in the cherished Dragon Age series. It represents a major evolution from its predecessor, Dragon Age II, incorporating elements that were well-loved in the original Dragon Age: Origins but also introducing new features that stand on their own. While Inquisition improves upon Dragon Age II in many respects, it falls short of the exceptional standards set by Origins.

The quality of these free games has been awesome. Before anyone says they are not free I was already giving Amazon $6 a month for prime shipping and video this isn't why I pay for my subscription

Teflon02910d ago

Still technically paying for it, even if it wasn't your intent. They've been giving out games with Twitch prime, they just changed the name. It's the same sub as that was. If you weren't aware, great. But you're paying for it.

That being said, I don't personally care. For me as long as you're willing to pay that for 1 service and get more. I personally take it as free. Like prime video, music though the prime version is trash, and all the Twitch benefits are all free to me because I didn't care about those when I got it. Just comes with it.

Only noted because that's technically wrong as a defense to that argument, whether I'm on yourside with the initial statement lol

mkis007910d ago

It's free to anyone who has already been paying. IDK why people need to split hairs.

TinkerNation910d ago

How does Prime Gaming work? Do you keep the games, or is it only as long as you have Prime?

Germaximus910d ago

lol Nice distraction from how they're now charging people to increase viewership. It's "just an option." /wink lol
