Why not just bring Minecraft to the Wii U?

nintendo_fan_4life3517d ago

Uh... because Microsoft bought Mojang?

Hellsvacancy3517d ago (Edited 3517d ago )

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, they've only recently bought Mojang, why isn't Minecraft on the Wii already? what stopped it coming to the Wii before the takeover?

AKR3517d ago

By that logic; then it shouldn't be on PS4, PS3,VITA, iOS, or Android. This acquisition isn't something that happened overnight; if Mojang really wanted to, they would have done a U version when they were working on X1, PS4 and VITA.

Mikefizzled3517d ago (Edited 3517d ago )

I want to point out Mojang don't make Minecraft on anything other than PC, iOS and Android. Notch didn't think the WiiU had the install base for it yet so held off commissioning a WiiU version. Microsoft however may think otherwise and get 4J to make it for WiiU.

theizzzeee3516d ago

@Mikefizzled I bet the real reason is Microsoft and Mojang had been in informal talks for awhile about a purchase that turned more serious. Microsoft and Sony don't mind working together against Nintendo.

Don't believe that can be true? Take note of these factors. Sony and Microsoft's latest consoles just "coincidentally" were X86 based and turned out to by near clones cept one had a stronger GPU and they had different type memory. EA's unpreced ented partnership they lived up to just backwards. UniSoft was Nintendo's staunchest ally yet soon after launch they gave them the shaft. Do you really think if, Sony and Microsoft didn't make back alley deals these publishers would be so quick to jump ship after they attached their name to it.??? Minecraft not coming to the Wii U had 0 to do with install base and everything to do with a further attempt to freeze Nintendo out.

Developers wishes.

Your tinfoil hat is showing.

"Minecraft not coming to the Wii U had 0 to do with install base and everything to do with a further attempt to freeze Nintendo out."

It was a decision made long before MS bought them.

Get out please.

Believe it or not Sony values Nintendo because they also help with their economy (japan)

At least the WiiU is getting its 3rd game.

shaw983517d ago

I will take it. I am ticked they put Minecraft on Vita and not Wii u. Wii u is perfect for a port. But it is to late now. Microsoft bought Mojang.

Chrischi19883516d ago

Yeah... it is so stupid... The Gamepad would be perfect to do all the crafting on. Unbelievable, how fixiated all devs are, to only use established controlling methods. The gamepad would take the best of both worlds, where only the PC could be considered equal or better, in terms of ease of use to play the game, but whatever, Notch wasnt the biggest Wii U fan, so whatever, maybe U Craft is very good, who knows?

R00bot3517d ago

Honestly with regular updates and proper, streamlined coding, this game could quickly be better than the original Minecraft. Add some unique stuff, maybe the ability to create electrical circuits or something and you're good.

Paprika3517d ago

Minecraft took ideas and elements from a game called Infiniminer anyway. Craft could be its own unique game with building elements. So what?

OverlordEnel3517d ago

To be honest,Mojang is making a primarily stupid decision, here's why.
Minecraft would sell VERY well between the WiiU and 3DS. I'm not sure how popular/successful Minecraft is in Japan, but a Minecraft 3DS would probably make it a bit more popular there.

wonderfulmonkeyman3516d ago

If they make a mine craft clone for 3ds, it should be for the upcoming New 3ds, so they have more room to develop tools and stuff for it.

deafdani3516d ago

Ugh. No. I'm against the idea of games exclusive to the New 3DS. It was bad enough with Xenoblade Chronicles, I don't want this to become a trend.

wonderfulmonkeyman3516d ago (Edited 3516d ago )

Putting it on the regular 3ds only would leave a lot of things impossible to do, though.
You may dislike the trend, but you can't deny that it would help the game hold more content if it went to the new3ds

randomass1713516d ago

I honestly agree with both of you. It's silly for Nintendo to split the install base like that but on the other hand the hardware upgrade is necessary given how popular and how weak the 3DS is.

Infinite but not the first two games? Witcher 3 but not the first two games?? GTA V but not literally any of the games before it??? Portal 2 but not the first? Also if you're going to play Shadow of The Colossus play the remaster and not the remake. Can't say I disagree with the list but my man it's all over the place.

Name Last Name60d ago

I mean some sequels are objectively better and you don’t need to play the whole series.

Inverno60d ago

But most of these games have a story to follow, sure you can catch up with a YouTube vid but where's the fun in that?

LucasRuinedChildhood60d ago (Edited 60d ago )

A list like this isn't telling you not to play the previous games if you want to. It's just giving you legendary games to play.

But tbh, you don't always have to force yourself to play every entry in a franchise to get to the better ones.

- The vast majority of Witcher 3 players never played the first 2 and had a great time. The first 2 games aren't in the same league.
- The GTA games are self-contained with the odd fun reference. You can easily jump into any of them.
- The Shadow Of The Colossus remake looks and controls better than the original (plus it has a 60fps option while the remaster is just 30fps). New players will enjoy it more.
- Portal 2 is a lot better than Portal 1 and takes the concept much further gameplay-wise. Storywise, Portal 1 is fairly light too. Not that you shouldn't play it but realistically ... you'd love Portal 2 whether you play it or not (at lot of Portal 2 players have never played 1).

Bioshock 1 is the only one I agree with you on simply because it's one the best games of all time and arguably better than Infinite. No other setting like Rapture.

Looking at the list, I'd recommend playing Uncharted 1 before 2 but no doubt, 2 is the legendary one you have to play.

Inverno60d ago

I get it, but that's just my opinion on his opinion. I just think that before you play a sequel you should still play what came before it. Maybe it's just me but i find it fascinating playing through the first game in a series and seeing how it has evolved through its sequels. Like I said I don't disagree with the list, other than SoTC which I strongly believe the remaster of the original should be played above the remake.

AuraAbjure60d ago

Awesome list! Hot take on Fear (and it's hard af expansion Persaus Mandate!) Bioshock Infinite is stellar, so is the Witcher 3 and you nailed it by having Ocarina of Time. So many fantastic games! Gotta play 'em all! Next one on my list is Prey after I beat Dead Space 2 and Splinter Cell Conviction.
