We’re not evil, says Candy Crush creator

King executive responds to furore over its practices by telling critics ‘we’re a really nice company’.

Activemessiah3664d ago

lol for trying to issue threats to small devs regarding using "Saga" in titles... you're not evil... You're scum.

Yi-Long3664d ago

... especially considering they stole the whole concept of Candy Crush Saga from some other unknown developer.

'We're not evil' ... Yes, you clearly are.

Activemessiah3663d ago

One of the first games i played that inculded "saga" was Saga Frontier from Squaresoft... that was used waaaay before that though.... can't just appear and claim it like some decorated Nazi.

When stop using copyright loopholes to steal game rights from people that THEY ripped off, THEN I'll believe they are not evil.

"... especially considering they stole the whole concept of Candy Crush Saga from some other unknown developer."

And then tried to get the game removed from the app store...

Meanwhile, this oh so not evil company is actively trying to stop the Banner Saga developers from using the word Saga in their game. This company is worse than Zynga and thats saying a lot.

Why would you even have to refute being evil if you were a really nice company? I've seen what you have done to my elderly mother and what you have done to my female friends! What you have turned them into! Looks evil to me... King!

If these guys were a bigger household name they would probably be a contender for worst company in the country. They'd give EA a run for their money for sure.

TitanUp3662d ago

i think evil is a narrow word for this situation, when i think of evil, think massacres world conqueror not extremely greedy companies that will betray their families for wealth.

randomass1713663d ago

Sure, you're not evil. You're just incredibly corporate and greedy. Jerkwads.

Amazing! Congrats for keeping the game alive and relevant for so long. This and Angry Birds defined casual mobile gaming.

The story of Candy Crush is kind of a sad one. Some other guy suffered pretty badly because King is bigger than he is.

"This company called King was talking about creativity. I was like, ‘What?’" - Josef Fares

From VG247: "During GameLab, Barcelona, last week, we sat in on a panel discussion between A Way Out director Josef Fares and Quantic Dream’s David Cage. In the panel, Fares had some choice words to say about mobile game developer King.

King is owned by Activision and creates games such as Candy Crush Saga and lots of other games with ‘Saga’ at the end. The studio’s games generate money through microtransactions."
