The Most Overlooked Final Fantasy Game Has Returned

'Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age' is an excellent remaster of a game ahead of its time, and a reminder of how much can change in a decade.

You can't say FFXII is the most overlooked Final Fantasy game when it easily outsold FFI, FFII, FIII, FFIV, FFV, FFVI & FFIX. Idk what FFXI & FFXIV have sold since it's hard to track software numbers of MMOs. Only FFVII, FFVIII, FFX, FFXIII & FFXV have managed to outsell FFXII.

FFXII wasn't even overlooked as a late PS2 game since it sold a massive 6+ million units, which is more than a lot of other popular titles on the system. Hell God of War 2 released even later on the system, sold less, yet nobody ever says that gem was an overlooked title.

The author basically took his personal opinion / situation with the original release and applied it as a universal true. He did bothered to look at what the critics thought about the original game, but he forgot to look at the number copies that FF: XII actually managed to move.

People are just trying to push 12 as an "overlooked" gem because they can't accept the fact that game isn't that good compared to other FF games. The story is pretty weak and the PS2's combat was awful. Ps4 turned some things around to make it a bit more enjoyable but the combat still isn't great and the story is still weak.

LOL what.... It was the BEST selling Final Fantasy Game in the series dumbass

@noecores8055
Sales ≠ quality, please don't confuse the two. By your logic COD is a perfect game because of sales despite it being one of the worst franchises currently because of actual quality.

@Summons75,

I think we can say the combat is more of a subjective choice, but it wasn't my thing either, newer FFs seem to like automating or taking a large portion of control from the player for some reason. I just want to control everyone in battle with a more traditional turn-based gameplay again.

As for the story, yeah, it was pretty weak, people will try and argue and defend it as being a highly political one, but it wasn't one of their better tales (FFXV is still weaker though). I think almost half the cast was pretty lackluster too (no one likes Vann right?), I really struggled to finish this game off when I got it during it's original release, I had to force myself and it was pretty unsatisfying.

That's definitively the most overlooked mainline title

I'm glad Nioh got some love, but I think Nioh 2 should be there too, an even more polished game imho. :)

The graphics of 2015’s Bloodborne do not hold up. This game needs a remaster.

I personally dont think ff10 is the best ff on there and bloodborne imo is the best rpg on there. I guess i still prefer my jrpg to be turn based and not action rpgs.
