Is there enough reason to purchase a Nintendo Switch right away?

The gaming community is buzzing with reactions to Nintendo's highly anticipated Switch event last night. In the aftermath, we finally have an idea of how many games we can expect to be released before the end of the year.

Looking at the ps4 and xbo launch line-up...they had many more games...but zelda is better than all of these games imo.
That's not to say the ps4 and xbo games were bad...but zelda is a killer app.
That said tho....1 killer app game isn't enough to justify a purchase. If they simply would have waited until holidays to release they would have mario, zelda, mariokart and all the other launch window games at launch. That would be a for sure worth a day 1 buy.
I see alot of people buying this black Friday tho.

Yeah exactly. I don't think anyone can argue that breath of the wild is the best launch game between switch ps4 and xbo but one game isn't going to make me put down that much money when there's tonnes to play on what I already have. So I'm thinking black friday too.

Unless you're a big Zelda fan and don't own a Wii-U then there isn't a reason to be an early adopter, by the end of 2017 it should at least have a solid offering of exclusives assuming games like Mario, Xenoblades 2 ect don't get pushed to 2018 and it might have a price drop as well. Personally i don't understand why they're launching it so soon when it's clear it needed a couple mores months to have a better selection of launch games, Bomberman, Steep, Skyrim, Disgaea 5, MK8D & others should be there day 1 just for the sake of variety. Maybe they have held back on some launch games which is dumb but being that it's Nintendo it wouldn't surprise me lol.

Because after the Wii U's abysmal 2016 holiday sales, delaying NS to release in holiday 2017 would've made Nintendo's Q4 fiscal year look terrible. That would make it look horribly bad in the eyes of the investors.

I'm certain that if Sony had delayed TLOU and released it as a PS4 launch game that would've been a big thing to prop up its appeal. However that would mean Sony would've had to screw over PS3 gamers who were waiting a year for that title, so they wisely released it in 2013 for PS3 and then 2014 for PS4 so everybody could benefit.

Nintendo on the other hand had no sense of sensibility and decided to make Wii U owners wait even longer just so they could make it a Switch launch title. To make Wii U owners wait even longer for a holiday 2017 NS launch just to play BotW would've been beyond torture and ridiculous.

Not for me. I still need to get a PS4 Pro + VR and Scorpio before i get this thing. My PC needs a serious upgrade soon too so the Switch is a way off for me.

Nah PSVR is a great device. It's quick to get through the really good content though at the moment but useless it is not.

Read my reply below and you will see why i'm upgrading my PC. And it's not that i want PSVR more than the Switch, it's just that i have wanted to get my hands on that thing a lot longer than i have the Switch. I also prefer to try things out myself rather than listen to bias opinions from people on the internet.

Well I have a Wii U so I'll buy Zelda for it (Yeah the graphics and the performance might be slightly inferior... but who cares, right?!)
I'm old... any graphics these days are fine by me... What I like about graphics in games is the design... and I think the Wii U will do. I still think Skyward Sword looks beautiful and that's a wii game
I love that Nintendo didn't break their promise, like so many other do, and are still delivering the game for the Wii U (It will hurt the switch a little...)
If it came with the new Mario game I might get one now (or a Metroid, or anything)... But I guess I'll wait a little.

There is for me. I have a long flight the day after launch and thanks to the USB ports on the plane I will be playing out Zelda Botw. Plus I am fortunate enough to have money to get all the platforms that have games I want. I understand why you wouldn't though because there is enough concern to take a wait and see approach.

* It will sell a lot right away but I think sales will really start to pick up around September/October going into the holidays where Mario Odysee becomes the system seller.

Now at Holiday 2017, you have Mario + Mario Kart + Legend of Zelda for the newcomers to play.

* It's smart though.

- You get the initial Winter/Spring sales followed by Summer E3 hype sales, and then your first full Holiday.

By that time, your library of games is more established.

* March 3rd release is for mostly hardcore gamers....as in people who play daily.

* Holiday 2017 release stuff is for the casual gamer or people they are trying to win over.

They should have released in fall with Zelda, Mario, and Splatoon. And pack in Mario Kart 8. That thing would have been the fastest seller in history. As it is, this system is going to bomb.

Nintendo fans would have been mad with a delay but it wouldnt have hurt much. The only thing is if they released in the fall with all the other heavy hitters on other systems it prob would have been a bad idea. So summer would prob be smarter to garner some ready third partys. The fact they dont have a truck load of third partys ready for launch is laughable at best.

I disagree mk8 would be the system mover you claim... The game has already sold to +8 million customers on the wiiu. A rerelease of a game wouldnt do as well as a brand new zelda or mario packed in the box for 350. Im willing to bet most nintendo fans have played the balls out of mk8. Thats almost like packing uncharted 4 that sold +8 million copys in the box when the ps5 releases.

For me, no. I could get it in March for Zelda but I've been excited for horizon for too long so that's what I wanna invest my time into. Other than zelda it's just mario odyssey that I'm interested in that's been announced for this year. Would love to get mario kart deluxe but I got the original on WII U and bought the DLC so I'm not paying full price for it again. Splatoon 2 doesn't look like it has enough different for it to warrant being a new game either. It's annoying cuz I do actually want a switch. It's just too pricey for what's there right now though.

I like Zelda, but paying more than $400 just to play a Wii U port cartoonish 900p game that looks for kids is no fun at all. I rather invest in a PS4 Pro.

Maybe if you are a kid, you may have reasons to get it. After you have played Zelda and Mario, what's in store for the Switch? Nothing interesting plus the big third party games are not gonna be available on it.

I'll wait for a couple of years for Nintendo to release "Switch light" with better battery life and brighter screen as it always have been with Nintendo. And also for the library to build up and prices to go down.
