Sony E3 2015 Predictions - "the pressure is on for PS4"

Dealspwn: E3 2015 starts in less than three weeks, promising one of the most fiercely-contested expos of recent years. We're doing our best to predict what each publisher and manufacturer will bring to the table, so having covered Microsoft yesterday, it's time to take a look at their rival sitting pretty in the blue corner.

Sony are leagues ahead of the competition in terms of sales, console hardware specs and Bloodborne, but does their confirmed 2015 games lineup put them at a disadvantage? What about the Vita? It all comes down to how willing Sony are to surprise us.

I really can't wait for this show. Will be really interesting to see what Sony roll out - surely there'll be some big reveals.

bggriffiths3257d ago

Yeah, they must have something big lined up. Would be nice is there's a surprise release for this year too. Seeing as we'll be up until about 4am in the UK, I'm hoping it'll be worth it.

Transistor3257d ago (Edited 3257d ago )

They'll be fine.

http://m.neogaf.com/showpos...

I'm not sure where all this pressure to perform is coming from.

Crimzon3257d ago

Don't stay up until 4am just to watch it, you'll only end up disappointed. Andrew House himself said Sony doesn't really have much to show, so getting yourself hyped up for that and ruining your sleeping pattern isn't terribly wise, in my opinion.

marlinfan103257d ago

@transistor

Of course there's pressure to have a good show. It's the biggest conference of the year. If they didn't have a good performance it'd leave a lot of fans disappointed. I'm sure they'll be fine though

Transistor3257d ago

"Andrew House himself said Sony doesn't really have much to show"

Do you have a link to that?

BiggerBoss3257d ago

@transistor

No he doesnt, because he made it up. Andrew House said nothing of the sort.

The troll is strong with Crimzon

Hellsvacancy3257d ago

Not me buddy, I've sat up until 4am watching E3 many times only to be disappointed by 6am "why the f did I stay up and watch that"

The Video Game Awards would be another fine example of wasting my earth minutes staying up

I'm not hyped at all this year, what will be will be

MysticStrummer3257d ago (Edited 3257d ago )

@Crimzon - Since you're going the fabrication route so will I…

MS just announced that XB1 is discontinued as of this morning but XBL accounts will not be refunded. I have no link to support that, but trust me.

OT - No, it really isn't.

No way would I stay up until 4am to watch any of these presentations. Midnight… that's more reasonable. My geekdom does know a few bounds.

Crimzon3257d ago (Edited 3257d ago )

I guess you guys missed the article at the top of the news page:

Sony Admits 1st Party PS4 Games in 2015 "a Little Sparse;" 3rd Party Exclusive "Difficult to Secure"

Maybe you guys are seeing a different N4G to me? Strange, that article is top of the page for me. It's hilarious being called a troll for mentioning something Andrew House said by the way.

ABizzel13257d ago (Edited 3257d ago )

@transistor

It's from the unknown. Sony has really shown anything at all really, which is surprising considering the PS3 ALWAYS had leaks. Meanwhile we've known about the majority of MS games since earlier this year and even prior to that.

We're all just waiting too see what Sony's first party AAA games are going to be, and that wait is becoming unbearable, because we want that first party original goodness.

But people seem to forget that Sony already has a bunch of big games planned for 2015 - 2016, and a bunch of exclusives, and remakes / reboots / remasters already revealed even from none first party developers.

Uncharted 4
Street Fighter V
Persona 5
Hellblade
No Man's Sky
Until Dawn
Everybody's Gone to Rapture
Rime
Tearaway Unfolded
The Witness

That's already 10 exclusives / timed exclusive before E3 even rolls around, and it's already a good and diverse collection of games.

I guess we're all just ready to see those first party AAA games, and get release dates for games coming out holiday 2015.

Another Ace in their sleeve is Morpheus. It's launching first half of 2015 so it's going to be at this E3, and the PS4 will have a bunch of console exclusives and Morephus exclusives by default since no other console can produced what Morephus is doing by then.

So I'm not worried about Sony at all. We know all their 20+ developers (counting multiple teams) are working on PS4 games, so there has to be something big planned for E3 2015, but gamers are getting inpatient and it's time for Sony to show it, and get release dates out there.

E3 is Sony's to "win" or "lose". Just depends on how much they want to show this year.

LordMaim3256d ago

@Crimzon:

House didn't say that there was "Not much to show at E3", he said that first party games were "a little sparse" in 2015. Maybe he expected 50 first party games, therefore only 10 would be "a little sparse" from that perspective. In no way is what you said and what House said "the same thing".

uth113256d ago

It's all in how you parse House's comment. He's talking publically about the already revealed line up for 2015

He didn't say they have nothing to show at E3
He didn't say the 2016 lineup would be sparse. (most of what is shown at E3 would presumably for 2016 and beyond)
He didn't say there wouldn't be any 2015 surprises at E3.. many commentators expect at least one unannounced game for the fall to take uncharted's place

AngelicIceDiamond3257d ago

I can see allot of 2016 titles like Uncharted 4, GoW 4 and GG's Horizon.

reallyNow3257d ago

2016 is going to be a huge year for playstation. starting with morpheus.

"Sony E3 2015 Predictions - "the pressure is on for PS4""

NO it's not. The pressure is on X1 and WiiU. It's they that have to deliver...

Sony and PS4 just have to present at E3.

marlinfan103257d ago (Edited 3257d ago )

Well I sure hope that's not how sonys thinking

AngelicIceDiamond3257d ago (Edited 3257d ago )

Sony doesn't have to deliver? Why is that? True, 1st party or not Sony's gonna sell, and they're gonna sell big. But that doesn't mean they can slack off they have to deliver the goods and work just as hard as everyone else. That's a terrible mentality you have there.

It sounds like your already saying Sony won't impress at E3.

Kurisu3257d ago (Edited 3257d ago )

Just because they're in the lead doesn't mean that they should get lazy :/ Sony need to prove that they can deliver "Greatness" for the entirety of this generation.

MadLad3257d ago

You don't think Sony has to keep in mind that 1) despite them doing well, they still need to keep consumers looking for more and 2) that both of the others, especially Microsoft, seem to be lining up and bringing their A game this year?

Sorry, but there is a lot of pressure on Sony at the moment. They are left with the need of constantly justifying their place at the top so far this generation.

Automatic793257d ago

The pressure is on all gaming companies to lead my favorite hobby/pastime ahead.

Spotie3257d ago

There's a difference between Sony being lazy and not putting any effort into this year's E3- don't know why anyone would think that would be the case- and Sony being under any sort of pressure.

lelo is right that the other two are the ones that are actually under pressure, but that doesn't mean they WILL be lazy and fail to deliver.

WeAreLegion3257d ago

You guys really took his comment the wrong way. He was saying the pressure isn't on them. That's it. They don't HAVE to deliver. They probably will, but they don't have near the pressure the other two do.

LamerTamer3256d ago

I just hope they don't dedicate a half hour to a stupid cable show and another hour to download only indie games. That truly SUCKED the big one last year.

are we geeks because we watch E3 conferences?

bggriffiths3257d ago

Yes. But not in a bad way. It's kinda gaming's Superbowl after all.

oasdada3257d ago

Yeah im planning to invite friends over to watch e3 live stream and play some mkx and mvc in the mean time

FunAndGun3257d ago

You are a bigger geek in having a N4G account!

MysticStrummer3257d ago

No. We're geeks because we argue about who "won" those press conferences.

Retroman3257d ago

Only thing get me excited is unannounced ps4 100.00 price drop compete with X1 price drop .

Sora_19943257d ago

Off-topic:I got tickets for the movies...whoooooo

xwilldemise3257d ago

Hopefully SONY delivers on a lot of fronts. Hope they show GOW4, The Last Guardian, Horizon, a new IP from Sucker Punch, GT7, alongside a 1-2 more new IP's on top of that. Also gameplay/ release dates on most games now like No Mans Sky, Uncharted 4, Persona 5. Not sure what else I can ask for lol not getting my hopes up however.

Kurisu3257d ago

God of War IV demo code with God of War III Remastered.

Not gonna lie, I'd rebuy it for that.

It's a shame that the UK times for Sony and Bethesda are so late :(. However, will probably stay up to see them this year.

Christopher3240d ago

That's standard time for Sony.

gaffyh3240d ago

I know that's what I mean, it's too late
