it just gives guardians more options with what to do with their time. Personally I think the mode looks great, and I like that they have 4 different "missions" associated with it, each increasing in difficulty. The fact that they are rotating the three harder ones is nice too, because each week it will be different then.

more than just the prison, the whole update seems to be improving destiny in every way (except the lack of story, i dont see that changing until Comet)

-The economy has been fixed
-The loots are getting better
-Rewards increased for activities like crucible
-New items bought are already at max level, just need to level up the perks
-Old items can be easily upgraded to max level, so its not just 1-2 armor sets possible for max level
-Weekly and NF are no longer going to be the same
-5 new crucible maps bring a lot of variety
-Trials of Osiris and Prison of Elders bring some variety of modes (still would have like a new raid though)
-New weapons have more variety in their look

Seems like it took quite a few months, but Bungie has been listening and learning from their mistakes. Hopefully the comet expansion continues the trend while also fixing the story problem

FamilyGuy3277d ago (Edited 3277d ago )

This gives people more to do per week if they're interested in getting rewards from them all.
Atheon Hard (armor an weapons are relevant again)
Crota regular
Crota hard
Trials of Osiris
Prison of Elders level 32/34/35
Weekly Nightfall
Weekly Heroic

That's a big time investment for active players. With all Legendary gear able to be at the new cap you could wear anything an use any weapon you like.

Neonridr3276d ago

@FamilyGuy - did they confirm whether or not the weapon drops in the raids now will be automatically boosted up to the 365 level? Or do we still have to ascend them regardless?

FamilyGuy3275d ago

I believe I heard someone say that in the Trials of Osiris reveal stream. If you get armor, it comes fully maxxed on light so it brings you closer to 34 instantly.

TimeSkipLuffy3277d ago (Edited 3277d ago )

just more to do to keep them playing while working on the real deal you have to pay the full retail price :D

spicelicka3277d ago

Bungie would've put all this content with the game last year if Activision didn't force them fragment it.

Nuckles3277d ago

And what is your proof that it was cut from the game? I keep hearing this and have seen no proof.

spicelicka3277d ago

Well other than the trailer they released a year before the game showing locations that were cut from the final game and are showing up now in DLC. Bungie, in their updates on the game's progress gave a good idea of what their plan was, and it was wayy bigger than the final game. On top of that some of the developers gave information on the locations and story that were never seen in the final game. You can clearly see the game was stretched and cut short with the story mode ending abruptly.

I can't spend my time digging out proof, not like it matters anyway. Take it as my opinion if you want.

Nuckles3277d ago

Just because its in a trailer doesn't make complete and ready to ship.

martinezjesus19933277d ago

@spicelicka, you mean the reef social space that was cut for the game to sell it too us?? You do know its free for everyone right?

FamilyGuy3276d ago (Edited 3276d ago )

Dude, these areas have all been in the game since launch. Look up some videos of people glitching through walls and into the "DLC" locations. I've personally already been on the Ketch ship above the moon as well as the story mission location that came with the dark below. I've gone through every glitch that has been posted on youtube and that was back in november or december.

I believe this arena is brand new but all the story missions that they released and are releasing with these expansions have been in the game since the september launch. The Reef location as well. The topic shouldn't even be up for debate.

Destiny Made Over $160 Million In Microtransaction Revenue In Less Than 2 Years

Destiny has made over $160 million in MTX revenue, and these numbers only account the data from late 2017 to early 2019.

Sgt_Slaughter333d ago

That's extremely low for microtransactions, especially for a game that's essentially designed around it

LucasRuinedChildhood333d ago (Edited 333d ago )

This was back when the game wasn't free to play.

The figures are from November 2017 to February 2019 (1 year and 4 months).

Based on that projection, the MTX revenue for Destiny 2 likely would have been closer to ~$240m for 2 years.

Not sure if premium expansions are included in that figure either although ... I'd hope that they are though and that most of the revenue was for actual content like Forsaken.

People spend way too much money on cosmetics.

Rude-ro333d ago (Edited 333d ago )

Seasons($10 and just got bumped to $12) and dungeon keys($10 each, two a year) are through the eververse(micro transaction) store.
So for those two years, in order to play a season, you would pay through micro transactions.

Sonic1881333d ago (Edited 333d ago )

Bungie Marathon will be worse since it's designed around it as well

Kurt Russell332d ago

It makes me sad to agree... but at the same time I am looking forward to giving it a go. Destiny 2 is so far in, I find it difficult to figure out what I am meant to do first.

buffig333d ago

I think FIFA alone makes over $1bn a year from mtx

anast333d ago

FIFA promotes a worldwide sport. It should make more money than destiny.

CantThinkOfAUsername333d ago (Edited 333d ago )

Let's compare something similar. Apex Legends and its ridiculous $18/$40 skins make EA a billion each year.

z2g333d ago

For as much as ppl complain how much they hate microtransactions, they sure don’t act like it. No wonder they aren’t going anywhere.

spicelicka333d ago

By "people" you're referring to millions and millions of people. Obviously the ones complaining aren't necessarily the same as the ones spending all that money.

There's millions that purchase MTX and there's nothing we can do about it

I've been thinking about playing through D1 again before it goes away...

CobraKai484d ago

That’s the sad reality of a game like this. I bought it, invested lots of money, and it can go away at anytime. I still think this was more fun than 2.

jeromeface483d ago

prob because 2 is a grindfest slog

spoonard480d ago

That's the bummer of 'games as a service'.
