Star Wars Celebration: Battlefront Does Not Have A Campaign

Star Wars: Battlefront will not have a single-player or narrative campaign, DICE revealed to IGN. Rather than a traditional solo outing, Battlefront will rely on a set of short missions which can be played alone, or cooperatively via split-screen or online.

Battlefront 2 had no full campaign. It has a set of missions that you play through the perspective of the 501st clone trooper unit. I'm sure this is no different. I'm more concerned about the no space battles.

WELL TBH, this is one of the few games that the multiplayer can actually prob carry this game for awhile.

Yea, cause we all know Dice games like Battlefield 4 and 3 had a great campaign and was the bee's knees right? Yea I'll remember those campaigns for the rest of my life.

Was really shocked and disappointed when I heard I wasn't going to experience another one of Dice's epic campaigns in Battlefront! :C

I loved battlefront 1 and 2 campaign so much that I completely forgot the writing,characters,voice acting,and plot because it was just that amazing and that's what I always played battlefront for. My mind just couldn't handle its thought-provoking theme.

Well Guess I wont be picking this up. It looks like Sony will be advertising this has their big holiday game, if I was a Sony fan I would start worrying. There is no way you can spin 3 holidays in a row with a trash first party line up into a positive. Hell at least Microsoft did give us a wash and repeat cycle last gen, but Sony aren't given their fans crap but indies and 3rd party.

What's there to worry about? Several games will be releasing before the holidays that people will still get to play. It's not like they disappear after they're released.

And you do realize that E3 is still around the corner. I'm not saying Sony will have some huge announcement for a holiday game at E3, but the fact that they have this marketing deal is going to help them ride the hype wave from Battlefront all the way to when the movie releases.

Yea because it's a must to experience Dice amazing story-telling skills and with there great tack record on making amazing single player games I'm sure this would of been a really good single player game...I mean...Battlefield 4's single player was so amazing that it overwhemled my brain and it made me completely forget everything about it....
If only Battlefront 3 would have this single player!!But no they had to focus more on the multiplayer aspect...

As somebody else asked you earlier, is the holiday all you honestly care about? Do you enjoy waiting 10 months for a big exclusive game to play in one year? I sure as heck prefer a more diverse and unparalleled spread out lineup of games. And that is the choice I made, whilst you are choosing to be bitter about Sony's decisions, when it's all to do with a choice that YOU made to begin with.

PS4 apparently has "crap but indies and third party" but from where most people are looking from it's still the console to own this generation, with way more games and the higher rated games. Sorry to break that to you, but it's a universal truth that should be accepted sooner rather than later.

Out of danger of being voted off-topic, like most people replying to you here, I'll say that I'm not bothered about this having no campaign. I don't think DICE have made a fantastic FPS campaign for years, and I'd rather they focus on maintaining the legacy of a great multiplayer shooter over ticking a box. I'm surprised that EA allowed it to ship without a campaign, so I applaud that decision.

Evolve was a wasteland within the first week and titanfall pc community died so swiftly they gave away all the dlc for free and the community still didn't return.

Last i checked titanfall had 800 people playing on one game mode the rest are empty.

online only-do you have friends? do those friends play video games? out of the ridiculous amount of expensive 60$ games there are to choose from? did any of those friends happen to pick the same game you did (if your game isn't battlefield, call of duty, or destiny then you probably won't make it past this question)? Did those friends happen to choose the same console you did? congratulations, you can play with people you know...using a mic... unless you want to buy two consoles and two tv's and set them up next to one another, this isn't that great of a social event.

don't get me wrong, they're something special about online games that you don't get from fighting with ai in single-player, but i'd rather play multi-player against player controlled enemies or even just ai, then play single player against player controlled enemies if that makes sense

Split screen is actually a negative these days. Cant really push graphics too far when you have to render it twice on one screen.

After reading all of it, it sounds like the game is going to disappoint, the game is aiming to be more graphics then gameplay,
dont expect it to be battlefield epic, to sum it up:

-they went from 64 players like in battlefield to 40 players.
-no Space battles.
-heroes in game, which if done wrong it can be verry annoying to other none hero players.
-7 to 10 vehicles :(
-4 maps at launch (sucks!!)

it sounds like it is going to be so rushed up to release so they going to have only 4 maps and add a free dlc later of maps .(really? thank you EA it was supposed to be in the full game in the first place.)

they are probably going to charge 60-80$ for the game, and mark my words its going to be a disaster at launch, it is clearly rushed because they are going to release it about the same time of the movie release (more money grap for EA).

Eh not really bothered. I didn't spend much time playing it in Battlefront 2 so whatever. I got to give props to EA for coop via split-screen. Something that seems to be missing a lot with this generation and last with being able to play online.

Going all Titanfall on us, huh? That's a shame, because I kinda liked Battlefront II's idea of following the 501st through the saga up to Episode VI. Hope that means the multiplayer's boss, because this is sure a darn shame for the storytelling possibilities.

Really good sp missions and offline bots could make up for the lack of a campaingn (to me, at least). Not ideal, but... well...

*edit: since they're focusing enterely on the online portion of the game, I guess it could mean that there will be some sorte of online pve/coop insteat of it being pvp only? That would be nice.

People actually mainly bought Battlefront for single player and not multiplayer? ha what a joke. The campaign in battlefront 2 wasn't anything groundbreaking either. This is nothing like Titanfall because it did have a campaign and it was shit, at least they just skipped it completely.
