Bethesda VP helps raise awareness of mental wellness in gaming

MWEB GameZone writes: "Pete Hines, the Vice President of PR and Marketing for Bethesda Softworks was elected to join the board of Take This.

Take This, a non-profit charity founded in 2013, has the noble vision of informing gaming (and other) communities about mental health issues.

As a gaming community we need to stop and take stock of what we are fighting for. An organisation like Take This deserves our energy, our passion and our support.

I have some mental health issues myself. Although luckily, I'm not on the far end of the spectrum where it's noticeable. It's just an issue for me alone, and it doesn't really affect others around me or my personal life (for the most part). There are varying degrees though, and many different types of mental illnesses. No matter what is having an effect on you, always try to maintain a happy outlook. As long as you choose to be cheerful, no matter what you're going through, you can always have a positive outlook on life. Choosing to be happy can also help others who are in a bad mood lift their spirits as well. :]

Can you imagine how many gamers have it in some form? Take This offers help from games to games.

Now that is something worth fighting for, not silly "my platform is best" stuff.

Just. Saying.

much agrees. everyone has issues, its how its dealt with that makes the difference and yes much better than which console is best.

SERIOUS REMARK: That is awesome. Malagasy be positive for a hope that humanity will be strong and fight through the scariest of issues.

LESS SERIOUS: I am losing it a little and think some FALLOUT 4 would be the stimpak my mind needs to stay focus in the trying times ahead.

ROFL!!! Stimpack needed by all

Gaming is often an escape, not necessarily from mental illness, but when I'm playing a game, be it competitive or casual, nothing else matters. The world can pass by and I wouldn't even know.

It's great that they're tying up the two distant relations to bring awareness! Well done.

I think gaming helps relieve stress. Sometimes I get off work stressed out from a hard days work & once i sitdown relax and play a game it takes my mind off that stress. This is great though.

MrSnrub3397d ago

Agreed, gaming helps you take your mind off your issues. Always important not to game too long though

A noble cause indeed, well done sirs!

EKWB reportedly plagued with financial disarray many gaming pc's left without parts

EK Cooling allegedly has slipped itself into a hot soup of seemingly endless financial woes, where it has not paid its staff, suppliers, and contractors for many months as the company is facing liquidity problems and a surplus of inventory left unsold, stuck in the warehouse for a more extended period. Gamers Nexus investigated these claims made by former and current personnel, where he found trails of unpaid bills lasting as long as three to four months and unpaid raises that accumulated for almost a year.

EK Water Blocks has two entities—a Slovenian-based headquarters and a US-based subsidiary, EK Cooling Solutions. Steve narrated the series of events in detail, stating that the company was reportedly irresponsible and negligent regarding payment. Consequently, partners and employees are forced to share the burden of alleged mismanagement. It all begins with its extensive range of products, leading to a surplus of goods. EK has over 230 water blocks, 40 liquid cooling kits, 85 reservoirs, 40 pumps, 73 radiators, and 212 miscellaneous accessories.

Yes this is not about video games directly but indirectly this will impact the pc gaming/workstation space hard.

This company is massive one of two in the water cool space so if it goes poof then thousands out there have no spare parts or half built computers.

SO yeah i know not about a video game but think of it as amd leaving the pc space but this is ekwb that could be leaving water cooling in the pc space

Jayz2cents a supporter of there products also has issues

As someone that has built a watercooling rig. EK is big, but there's so many numerous watercooling part companies out there. EK's stuff isn't exactly amazing quality for the price compared to others either, it's just ok. Much like Corsair. The impact would be negligible long term. For perspective the majority of my parts are XSPC, at most I use EK for my gpu waterblocks and fittings. Both easily replaceable.
