I like it. It is built pretty damn good. Just hope it gets a ton of support as I also own the Sharpshooter but while it was awesome, it really didn't get as much support as I would have liked for the $40 investment just for the Sharpshooter shell. What was great is ordering the Aim bundle early and getting that $20 or more off so it's not such a hard hit for the AIM itself.

MasterCornholio2536d ago

Developers can patch support for this controller in their non VR FPSs. This doesn't have to be just for VR games.

IamTylerDurden12535d ago

Blue Estate would be so easy to patch it for.

DJ_Professor_K2536d ago

I wouldn't exspect to much use from it

S2Killinit2535d ago

if you are playing a VR FPS, this is the way to go. Not even a comparison.

DJ_Professor_K2535d ago

I agree but if it's a dual wielding game ..... I'm not saying it won't work I'm just saying I don't think they will have more then 7 games for this parallel I think it will be use as much as the Nintendo light gun if that much this generation I hope so cause I'm big on VR I hope I'm totally wrong I just don't see them droping they many shooters for this parallel

S2Killinit2535d ago

Oh I see. Well yeah for a dual weilding game the move controllers are the way to go. As for the Aim controller, I think it depends on how much FPS you like to play. As far as experience, it works like a charm.

IamTylerDurden12535d ago

If you own PSVR you can use it as much as you desire considering 5 titles are already confirmed to support the AIM in 2017.

Titles already confirmed to have PSVR AIM controller support.

Farpoint (currently)

Brookhaven Experiment (early June)

Arizona Sunshine (June)

Dick Wilde (soon)

ROM Extraction

Some big PSVR game announcements are rumored for E3 with speculation that the AIM controller will be involved.

TheUndertaker852536d ago

...Why not just add sharpshooter support?

The sharpshooter looks to be a much higher quality product with greater functionality.

Ron_Danger2536d ago (Edited 2536d ago )

What??

The Sharpshooter only had one joystick, the Aim has 2. The only thing the Sharpshooter had that the Aim doesn't is the ability to "pump" reload. Other than that the Aim is night and day better.

Edit: also the PS4 doesn't support the nav controller so Sharpshooter support would be impossible.

ocelot072536d ago

Ps4 does support the nav controller. I think their is only like 2 games that support it.

TheUndertaker852535d ago (Edited 2535d ago )

Why does it need two? That was the point of the orb wasn't it? Movement tracking?

Better yet doesn't Sony create these same drivers? Why wouldn't the PS4 be capable of supporting a PS3 peripheral that also communicates via Bluetooth? 🤔

Oh, Killzone 3, SOCOM 4, and Resistance 3 had sharpshooter support namely. It was also possible to use it with software that didn't natively support it. The same with their last gen Move Racing Wheel.

The sharpshooter also sported an adjustable stock which the AIM does not have. Pump to reload also does expand immersion just like having a stock would.

Here is a Reddit post with individuals confirming the Nav is supported & does work with certain titles.
https://www.reddit.com/r/PS...

The AIM looks like something that would've been released for Wii. The only thing PlayStation about it is the orb on the end. 😕

S2Killinit2535d ago

why? because the design of the Aim controller is functional. Its meant to replicate the FEEL of whatever it is you're holding in VR space. IF you hold a sharpshooter machine-gun that feels like a M16, then it will destroy the immersion when you pick up any weapon that is NOT a M16, like for example a pistol or a bow. The Aim controller feels neutral and so the immersion is far superior to any other controller you would use in a VR FPS.

TheUndertaker852535d ago (Edited 2535d ago )

Because the question I'm asking and did ask is why not add sharpshooter support then stated my opinion. Knowing I've had the sharpshooter and used it where it was possible. I used it in every aspect of SOCOM 4 along with Killzone 3 then platinumed both. Their native support actually did the peripheral justice. Resistance 3 also did but it wasn't up to the previously mentioned.

I didn't state Aim shouldn't have support but supporting an older underutilized device where it seems very possible shouldn't be ignored either.

Ron_Danger2535d ago (Edited 2535d ago )

What you aren't getting is that VR+Aim does not equal regular tv + Sharpshooter.

In Killzone 3 if you had the Sharpshooter, you were stuck with looking where ever the Sharpshooter was pointing.

In Farpoint using the Aim controller, you can turn to the right while aiming to the left while also looking up and down to see if there are enemies above or below you. You can hide behind cover and raise your gun over the cover and blind fire.

If you just had the Sharpshooter + Vr you'd be stuck with point to point teleportation travel. The Aim controller gives you full 3D movement.

You are trying to argue a point so stuck in the past that you don't even realize the potential of the device you're arguing against.

I've got the sharpshooter, the aim controller feels less flimsy, way sturdier than the sharpshooter! Plus the aim controller has more buttons and sticks and thus provides more functionality, it also doesn't need a Move controller to be inserted...

jznrpg2535d ago (Edited 2535d ago )

I have both but I like the Aim better

IamTylerDurden12535d ago

No.

The AIM is a fully built and fully functioning controller straight out of the box. AIM doesn't need to have Move controllers inserted into it. AIM also has all the buttons that a DS4 has including two analog sticks, whereas the Sharpshooter only had one. AIM is an evolution of the Sharpshooter and a far superior product with more/better functionality. AIM also has terrific haptic feedback/rumble. It's a superior product tailor-made for VR.

G20WLY2535d ago

Can you turn, aim, strafe and look where you like with the sharpshooter? The answer is no and that's what they've addressed with the Aim controller.

Couple that with far superior build quality (despite what you've decided from looking at it lol) and you understand why A) sharpshooter doesn't work and B) Aim is required for a better experience.

Yeah I'm surprised it works as well as it does. Without more tracking lights on the gun to. The games super fun right now. Had two buddies play for a bit. My only concern is I get a lil queezy after about an hour. Hour and a half and I start feeling a bit sick. And I have t had that problem with any of the other PSVR games so far. My buddies could both only handle about 30 minutes before they had to opt out. So that's a little concerning.
Other then that the games dope so far. Gun shoots really easily and intuitively.

Ron_Danger2535d ago

Play with a fan facing you. It sounds weird but it really helps with vr motion sickness.

Hroach6162535d ago (Edited 2535d ago )

No that actually makes sense. Never thought of that. I'm gonna have to pull out my big stand up fan from storage. Thanks for the tip

Farpoint Studio Tease Cryptic Message for Upcoming VR Game

Its due for release later this year.

PrimeVinister1150d ago

Farpoint VR may be surpassed by other VR first-person shooters in the future but it is an important part of the genre's development in VR.

Neonridr1149d ago

I mean HL: Alyx is probably the best representation of first person implementation into a VR game to date. But it's exciting to see what's on the horizon. I will particularly be interested in the next gen version of PSVR to see what sorts of new interactions we can get with the controller

Abnor_Mal1149d ago

Farpoint was a great shooter with the Aim controller on PSVR, I'm excited to see what the studio is doing next and if its another shooter that will use the Aim again.

"There’s also no mention of what platforms it’ll support, presumably PlayStation VR will get a look in as Farpoint was exclusive to the headset. But there have been fewer and fewer for Sony’s device. With a 2021 launch window, VRFocus would expect an Oculus Quest version due to its popularity."

Sony just announced today five to six new games that will be releasing this year, so the idea of fewer and fewer games on the device is not correct, and there are a good set of games. Whether the game is exclusive or not it would be welcomed either way. How many Oculus Quest HMDs have been sold to date, and are they close to or already closed the lead of Sonys headset?

Games are subjective I guess. But this list is weak. Some of the titles named aren't that good. I could have came up with a better list. And some of the best and latest releases aren't even on this list.

Article could have been better.
